By Susan Wilson, author and reviewer; for THIN AS SMOKE, my latest Gaslight Mystery:

O’Quinn delivers both a mystery taut with danger and a love story, just as taut and just as dangerous.

The book is here:

A Spell in Provence by Marie Laval
Wow, what a page-turner! I was spell bound by this dramatic read from the very first chapter. I started reading on an afternoon and I had to force myself to stop a few chapters from the end, as it was already way past my bedtime. It was a book that had to be read to conclusion and even then it played on my mind long after I'd finished reading it.

The Lion's Embrace by Marie Laval
Right from the start of this novel I was drawn by the heroine, a quiet, reserved young woman with a core of steel, and her relationship with Lucas Saintclair, a cynical, world weary hero who is obliged to guide this seemingly Victorian miss across the Sahara. The first few pages set the scene for a novel full of romance, passion and intrigue.

"After reading about Katherine and Riorden in Sherry Ewing's book, For All Of Ever, I didn't think their love could get any deeper; that the story could get any better or that the plot could thicken with twists and turns that utterly surprised me." ~ Only For You by Sherry Ewing

"Despite her struggles, there was a theme of hope throughout which kept the story moving forward. It was a very real and captivating story with steamy, well-written love scenes. It's one of those reads you get lost in for hours and don't even realize it!" ~ Seeking Love by J.M. Maurer

FAREWELL TO KINDNESS - 5.0 of 5 stars

I am in awe of the author’s plotting, how she weaves the plotlines together in a carefully building crescendo. I am in the middle of a much simpler book, so I well know how difficult it is to bring these story elements together properly.
