First Kiss Wednesday

It's  First Kiss Wednesday!

Kisses are the mainstay of romance writing.  No matter how sweet or spicy our stories are, they usually involve at least a kiss or two.  And the first kiss is especially lovely - that first, soft touch of lips - or perhaps the kiss is fierce and hungry.  Maybe the characters murmur words of love or words of teasing while discovering the texture and taste of each other.  Maybe the only sounds they can emit are gentle, timorous moans or deep, throaty groans.
Okay, now that we've set the premise, here's what you can do for First Kiss Wednesdays.  In the comment box, give us a maximum of 300 words of the first kiss of a published work or a work-in-progress and one link to your website or blog or Amazon Author Page.
Read and luxuriate in the glories of the first kiss...

Oh, and lips only...  ;-)

An unusual kiss today from my veterinarian to her patient in The Witchy Wolf and the Wendigo (book1 Ashkewheteasu). Here Livie has no idea the snout she just kissed belongs to an ancient shaman with an incredible knack for changing form.
.......................

Finding it odd he didn’t lick the plate clean, Olivia reasoned that his appetite wasn’t at full steam yet. She rose with both plates and set them in the sink to wash later. Unbuttoning her shirt, she returned to crouch beside him to pet him. Holding his face, she looked him in the eye. “I’m going to take a shower. But listen, I don’t want you following me. I’ll only be upstairs but that’s just too much for you right now. Stay. Understand? Stay.” She kissed his snout.

Ash couldn’t help but notice her half-bare breasts, noticed too the warm sent of her skin and the intoxicating memory it stirred. Livie smelled like a woman under the light scent of meadow flowers, and her kiss was sweet and soft. Watching her go, he was surprised by the sudden compulsion to follow. With his awkward three-legged gait, by the time he made it to the stairs, most of her clothing was off. He was surprised by a fleeting rush of desire. To his further surprise, it came with an urge to change into a man.
He stood there gazing up the stairway. His heart ached to feel another’s embrace just once before he ended this life.

An unbidden yearning for Livie came, a thought so foreign to his mind it was nearly unrecognizable. Ash shifted uncomfortably, as his body remembered nonetheless. Turning away, he headed to the door. She was busy, he could leave now. His keen ears heard the small sounds she made — running water, her soft footsteps, singing. The singing did it.

Without further thought, he took a deep breath. In a flash his form shifted. Reducing in size until his limbs disappeared into his body, Ash assumed the form of a snake. He slithered out of his cast and bandages.

The first kiss between Master Jesse and Kellie from "The Orchard: Claim Me"
.....................

“Your wrists, little one.” Master Jesse held out his hands.

Her chest tightened again but the tingling was getting more intense. Her breathing started to become rushed. His eyes were locked on hers. Master Jesse never looked away until she put her wrists in his hands.

“Good girl.”

One by one, he shackled her wrists over her head. The restraints were snug but not uncomfortable. Master Jesse pulled slowly on a chain running down the wall. This pulled her arms up further. Kellie’s arms were now straight and her feet were just barely flat on the floor.

“You look very pretty hanging here for me,” Master Jesse said while running a hand down one of her arms. His hand continued down her side to her hip. He then grabbed both hips and pulled her against his chest. “Do you know how beautiful you are?”

Without waiting for a response, he kissed her. The kiss started out soft but then became more intense. He opened her lips with his tongue and slipped it into her mouth. At first she held back out of shock but then she returned the tongue play. When he pulled away, his eyes seemed to be a brighter blue. Her lips were pinker after the heavy kiss.

This is the first kiss from "Inn on the Edge" by Gail Bridges. Newlyweds Angie and Josh have just checked into a romantic bed-and-breakfast inn, and the weird, pervy old man who owns the place is posing them on the stairs for a commemorative photo.
................

The camera flashed.

“Now kiss her, Joshua Taylor.”

Our lips found each other. Familiar. Comforting. A touch of home in this place that had us both so unbalanced. Josh’s hand squeezed my breast, his finger ran lightly over my nipple. I sighed.

The old man sighed.

The camera flashed twice more. Then the old man slipped the camera back into his pocket. “Ah. Heroic. A blushing bride! On her wedding night! But this old man’s knees rebel.” He went down a step. “Regrettably, I will not join you on your climb. Eight flights might as well be the heights of Machu Picchu, entirely too much for the likes of me. You will find your room at the top, to the right. You would be hard-pressed to miss it. The key is in the door and your supper is prepared.” The old man turned to me. “Your chocolates await you, my dear. As does your randy husband.” He turned to Josh. “Oh yes, young man, I am well aware of your mighty erection. You will have a fine time tonight, rest assured.” And with that, the old man turned from us, limped down the remaining stairs, shambled across the room and was gone from sight.

We stared after him, aghast.

Josh broke into a wide grin. “That horny old geezer is right, you know.” He took my hand and held it over his crotch, pressing my fingers against the aforementioned mighty erection.

“Goodness! You are randy!”

Randy. When had I ever heard that word used in real life? For that matter, had I ever said the word “goodness”?

The place was rubbing off on me.

This is from my novel "Waking Dream" (book #5 in the Dream Series). My heroine, Sara, wakes up in the middle of the night, and she witnesses her teenage daughter's first kiss...

I get up, open the door and tiptoe out, down the hall, to the stairs. But there’s already someone downstairs, and – I don’t know why – I stand perfectly still and silent on the top step.

It’s Grace, pacing back and forth near the front door, looking quite impatient. I don’t know why I don’t call out to her, but some instinct is telling me not to. A moment later, there’s a hand on my shoulder, and I look up into Maggie’s tired and windblown face. They must only have gotten back from nighttime skiing a few minutes ago.

“I was looking for David,” she whispers into my ear. “He’s been in the bathroom downstairs for a while now.” And now I think I know why Grace is pacing, and why in that particular spot. I put a finger to Maggie’s lips. We both hear a door open, and then David comes into view. He’s heading straight for Grace. Of course he is.

He stops about six inches away from her, right under the mistletoe. They stare at each other for a minute or two; it’s too far away to judge the expressions on their faces. Finally, in response to some unspoken signal, they come closer – closer – then their lips meet. The kiss lasts for just a second, and they spring apart like a pair of repelling magnets. But then, after another minute or so, they come closer again. This time, Grace puts her arms around him, pulls him tightly to her. Then she grabs his hand and places it – oh, God, I can’t believe she’s doing this! – on the back of her neck. She holds it there, exactly in the spot that Brian always touches me. The spot that makes me swoon when it’s touched just the right way. And now she’s running her hand through his hair; again, just the way I do with Brian. They do say that children copy their parents.

She tilts her head slightly to the side and goes in for another kiss. This time it’s much more serious, and it lasts a lot longer.

They break apart again, more slowly this time, and it’s hard to be sure with the distance and the dim light, but I think they look more confused than anything else.

Okay, I'll jump in with my debut novel 'Moro's Price', a M/M erotic romance space opera. Here's the first kiss between my suicidal ex-gladiator Moro and my literally poisonous prince/techhead/genius Val:

Val twisted in the embrace, turning his face upward. Those extraordinary gray-golden eyes blurred with tears. “I just found you. I don’t want to kill you.” He lifted his hands to Moro’s shoulders. His lush lips remained half-open.

Moro’s mouth still stung from the first match, when Meng’s flying elbow had made Moro bite the inside of his cheek. Stimulant spray had healed the outer injury but not the inner.

The solution was simple and as potentially irreversible as stepping off a skyscraper. Moro bent and kissed the Camalian youth, slipping his tongue past Val’s lips and murmured denials. Val tasted faintly of good beer. Moro couldn’t imagine how bad he must taste, but Val didn’t balk. The Camalian moaned, and the sound made Moro’s knees tremble.

Moro was an expert at ignoring pain by now. Pain was only a distraction. The ache in his mouth, the deeper ache between his legs—they meant nothing compared to this new heat.

Their tongues met in growing urgency, coiling around each other, tracing teeth, lips, and the little swollen wound inside Moro’s cheek.

Val broke away, gasping. Moro dipped lower, mouthing Val’s neck under the feathery gold hair. He sucked hard, tasting sweat-salted skin. Val’s male musk hit olfactory nerves leading straight to Moro’s cock.

For whatever reason, for however long, fate had given Moro Val. He meant to make the most of the Camalian’s sweetness.

You've written what must be one of my all-time favorite lines!

"I just found you. I don't want to kill you."

Brilliant!

Here's mine from Viking Fire, historical romance. Kaireen's betrothed is a Viking and she refuses to submit to the marriage. Bram has a fortnight to change her mind:
“The bedchambers are upstairs.”
“Lead the way, then, my lady.” He grinned. His smile did not falter her resolve to be rid of him; instead, she stomped each foot on the stone steps.
“Our room.” She waved her hand as she stood at the threshold.
He moved passed her and into the room. “Tis the first you admit we marry.”
“No. I said no such—”
He pulled her in his embrace and she went rigid. She opened her mouth to scream, but as she drew a breath, his lips crushed hers. Tingles of warmth crept from inside her to the tips of her toes. Her mind raced, demanding she be free, while her traitorous body melted in his arms. His kiss became gentle and sparked a craving inside her for more. His mouth opened, offering her to taste secrets. She slackened against him as his tongue played across her lips, stroking, and numbing her thoughts. He did not force his way further, but ended the kiss with her lips yearning for his. Then he stepped back.
“Your lips and eyes speak of your love.” He beamed at her frown. “Now I am sure of your passion for me.”
“No.” That was enough! He had overstepped his bounds with his prideful arrogant assumptions. “You are mistaken; I wish to never marry you.” She would not fall in love with him. No matter his handsome face. She must not allow herself to acknowledge that she liked it when he kissed her. She would never be free if he became the laird over her.
“Aye, your kiss spoke more than you know.” He chuckled and held her hand kissing her palm. “In time the rest of you will agree as well.”

Thanks. This is the first kiss scene from my sensuous contemporary romance,A Groom for Christmas, a finalist in the Snow Globes Awards contest. My heroine Graceann has hired an old school flame, Jake, to be her fake fiance for the holidays. In the scene, they've just driven up to Graceann's parents' house.

He unfastened his seatbelt and leaned toward her. “Might as well start now.” Framing her face between his hands, he touched his lips to hers. At first she stiffened, but he continued to press his lips against hers, drinking in her sweetness. Her lips softened and she let out a low moan. Surprised and pleased at her reaction, he deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue into her willing mouth. She slid her hands up his chest and pressed closer.
Suppressing a groan, he fought the desire to skim his hands over her ribcage to her chest. For a petite woman, she had magnificent breasts.
The sound of voices cut through his sensual haze. He reluctantly drew away. Graceann watched him with wonder in her incredible eyes. Her breathing was labored. He resisted a smile. This gig might be lots more interesting than he’d hoped.
“That was for practice, right?” She rubbed a finger over her lips and lowered her voice. “You really know how to play a part.”
“You didn’t like it?”
Her face pinked. “It doesn’t matter what I like. This is a business deal.”
“So you keep reminding me.” He looked toward the steps where a group of people huddled watching them. “Your family?”
She looked over and groaned. “Do you think they saw us?”
“I’m sure they did. You stay there and I’ll come around and open your door.”
“I’m capable of opening my own door.”
He touched the tip of her nose. “But we want to make a good impression, especially on your grandmother.”
“Then maybe we’d better sit here for a little while,” she said with a pointed glance at his lap.
He grinned. “See what you do to me?” When she rolled her eyes, he laughed. “Give me a minute or two.”

Hi, this is a kiss scene from Her Midnight Stardust Cowboys, a ShapeShifter Seductions erotic romance novel.

"No tastin'," Dontoya warned his pardner.
Quick as possible, he placed everything in the sink. Dontoya returned just in time to see Zance playfully dab the whipped cream on the tip of Sherilyn's nose.
"You said no tastin'." Zance shot him a got-you smirk.
"Well, I'm tastin'." Dontoya shot back. "Come here, darlin'."
Sherilyn swivelled in her chair toward him. Dontoya gripped her shoulders, hauling her upward but with gentle force.
Her startled gaze darkened to passion as he lowered his head. He kissed the tiny dab of cream from her nose.
Dontoya licked it from his lips fast, then crushed her mouth beneath his. Easing the pressure of their mouths, he savored the soft ferocity of her kiss.
Time disappeared as he devoured the lush shape and texture of her lips. His mate's eager surrender to his dominant kiss thundered through Dontoya.
Like a sacred drumbeat, their hearts connected as one rhythm. With reluctance, Dontoya released her mouth, then her shoulders.
Sherilyn clung to his arms. "My cougar cowboy," she whispered for him alone.
Dontoya lowered her to the chair, making certain she was settled before moving to seat himself again.
"Nothing steals my breath away more than two hotter than hot cowboys." Sherilyn graced them both with her sensual smile.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Savanna
