Today's guest: Author Alice Orr

We welcome Author Alice Orr and Riverton Raw

What my stories have in common is a place. I call that place Riverton, New York. Riverton is located in remote Northern New York State where I happened to grow up.

It was very isolated there. People didn’t leave much because of the weather and the location. They didn’t leave in winter because the snowstorms were so severe they might not be able to get back again. The tiny airport would be socked in and passenger trains hadn’t run that far north since the 1960’s.

In summer most of us in the North Country didn’t need to go to the seashore or southern heat because the beautiful and balmy Thousand Islands were twenty-five miles away. We kept houses and cottages there along Lake Ontario or the St. Lawrence River instead of travelling long distances to other vacation spots.

Extreme things happen in isolated places. At least that’s how my imagination sees it. People who tend to live close together most of the time tend to murder each other more often. Their love affairs tend to be more intense. At least that’s how my imagination sees it.

Even though Riverton is a lovely town filled with lovely folks – darkness and passion are everywhere. Violent death occurs in each of my stories and hot sex too. The more stories I write – the more dark and passionate Riverton becomes. That’s how my imagination sees it.

These stone cold killers and smoldering lovers only exist in the pages of my books. But with every book I write they get more and more real to me. Give my Riverton Road Romantic Suspense Series a read. I’ll bet they get very real to you too. Real enough to chill your bones and set fire to your heart.

A YEAR OF SUMMER SHADOWS – Riverton Road Romantic Suspense Series Book 2 – launched with summer on June 22nd and is available at http://amazon.com/author/aliceorr. This is my 13th novel and it is Riverton Raw all the way through.

Welcome to the EQ blog! I know that part of the country very well. Spent plenty of time in a summer home on the Canadian side of the 1000 Islands. We were on Marlboro Lake. Just beautiful up there!

But Riverton? Enter if you dare? There really is something about those small towns where everyone knows everything about everybody and they will never let you forget. :-)

Welcome, Alice! I'm fascinated by small towns too even though I haven't lived in one for decades. Your Riverton books sound "delightful."

Hi Alice. Isolated areas and small towns are great settings, especially for suspense and horror. I also like the idea of your novels being tied together through a common setting.

Hey Alice, I wonder if you remember me from back in the day. It's good to see that some of us from back then are still writing. I remember coming to your and Jonathan's apartment. Good luck with the series. It sounds like a winner.
