First Impressions
by Peggy Jaeger
release date 9/23/15 The Wild Rose Press

When Quentin turned his attention to Moira, Clarissa took the opportunity to whisper to Pat. “You really can’t help it, can you?”

To the question in his gorgeous eyes, she added, “The whole natural, sexy, flirting thing you do without even thinking about it.”

The grin started at one corner of his mouth and spread across to the other side, mesmerizing her. All Clarissa had to do was move a fraction of an inch and she would have been in Pat’s lap, her lips molded to his. When her gaze dropped to his mouth, his perfect teeth peeking out from behind his irresistible grin, she actually considered giving into the thought.

“You think I’m sexy?” His voice slipped into a seductive timbre that made her lady-parts quiver.

Book #2 in the Lottie Baldwin Mystery series

Lottie gave a strangled cry and stopped abruptly, causing Harlan to collide with her. He grabbed her shoulders to keep them both upright. “What is it?”

She raised a shaking finger and pointed. “There.”

He looked where she indicated. An arm clad in red plaid flannel protruded from a large pile of leaves in a shallow depression in the ground, three feet off the path. “Stand back,” he said, sweeping her behind him with one arm. Then he strode to the body. Though he could tell at a glance that there was no hope–the hand protruding from the sleeve was mottled and swollen–he knelt down and felt the wrist for a pulse. As he feared, there was none. The skin was cold and hard. “Damn.”

“Can I help?” Lottie’s small voice came from behind him. He turned to her. Her face was as white as a wedding gown.

“Sit down,” he said. “Before you fall down.”

She laughed shakily. “No, I’m okay. Really. What can I do?”

He assessed her. She appeared unnerved, her body trembling, but Lottie was no wilting flower. She was tough. She’d been through worse. “Okay. If you really want to…” He waited for her nod. “Go back to the patrol car and call for help..."

HUNTER'S POINT (the 3rd Nevada Highlander novel). Castle laird Rory thinks about the streak of independence in his lover Alex:
~
He thought again, as he had a thousand times, of what Alex whispered that first night in this rough-hewn house.

“It’s okay, love. You never have to say it. How you feel. But don’t ever fucking forget … what I do, I do for both of us. This is my bedroom for a while. Hunter’s Point. So point your dick here and hunt for me.”

DEATH OF AN IDIOT BOSS
If you like a sleuth with attitude, you'll love Kadence MacBride

Winston snatched his desk drawer open, pulled out a small box, and dumped its contents. Business cards flew everywhere. He sailed one across the desk at me. “This says, Winston Holmes Jr., Vice President Marketing. That means, I'm the boss; you do what I say.”

I sailed the card back. “You’re an idiot boss. Only an idiot could come up with an idea this stupid.”

“Idiot boss? You can't—”

“Yes, I can. We're not putting half-naked men or women—”

“Yes, we are, what I say—”

“Is stupid. End of discussion.”

A Long Trail Rolling
by
Lizzi Tremayne
She relaxed the death-grip on her shashka, removing its tip from Xavier's throat. Her gaze met his smooth cocoa eyes fringed by long, black lashes, crinkles of laughter showing at their corners. Aleksandra's bronze-skinned benefactor had the look of a dark Spanish lord.

'The vixen has teeth,' Xavier said with a grin.
Aleksandra gave him the ghost of a smile, then frowned at his hands still upon her. White scars crisscrossed his right one, and his knuckles. He let go of her and stepped back from her side.

This is from my new release, A Baron for Becky. Hugh wakes up with a naked woman sprawled across his thighs.

Hugh shifted his hips, attempting to slide one leg out from under the woman, whoever she was. She stirred, then sat up in one motion, already talking before she was fully upright. Hugh, who had not yet dared move his head, was all admiration at her resilience.

“Devil take it, I fell asleep. What time is it? Lord Overton do you know the time? Is it morning? It must be morning; look at the light!”

Hugh had been paying attention to her naked curves, not her words. “I beg your pardon, ma’am,” he said, unwilling to hazard a guess at the lady’s name. “I appear to be without my watch.”
