FIRST IMPRESSIONS
by PEGGYJAEGER

He should let her sleep.
She looked so relaxed, so content in sleep. Her hair had fallen across one cheek in disarray as she lay on her side, her hand tucked under her chin. A small sweet smile clung to her lips.

INNOCENT TEARS

“My Mum is dead.”
Somewhat startled by this statement, Emma peeked over the
reception desk into beautiful green eyes that belonged to a cute
little girl with brown curly hair and a freckled button nose. She
couldn’t help but smile. There was something in the girl’s eyes that
held a hint of mischief and curiosity, as well as some sadness, and
Emma was drawn to her instantly.

PLANTING THE SEEDS OF LOVE

Sally struggled to open her heavy eyelids. Her body was heavy too; she couldn't even scratch her itchy nose. Why can't I open my eyes?

LOVE REMAINS

Poor fools, they made her laugh. Like squirrels busy digging for nuts, the Intelcorp’s
employees turned to work in hopes their name wouldn’t get called. They knew their
numbers would reduce when Olivia Owen from headquarters made her appearance, and
so far she glided through her job of weeding out the slackers. The management preferred
to call it a downsizing maneuvers—good for the investors and hell for the workers. Her
gaze trailed a slouched man on his way out of her office. Bet now he wouldn’t scoff at
the early retirement package he’d refused two years ago.
The hot security guard shut the door after the man. The watchman assigned to her to
protect her from possible verbal or physical abuse of disgruntled employees assumed his
usual pose, straight back, wrists crossed in front. Since this morning, Olivia eyed the
young guy every chance she got. He exchanged a few flirtatious glances with her, and the
thought of what lay hidden under his navy blue uniform sent heat to her core.

Lakota Moon Rising:

Julia rode numbly behind Hook Nose as his band traveled fast. During the day she took in the natural beauty of the land—animals that dug holes in the ground and barked, grey and white dogs that slinked through the underbrush. But at night the images of the boy and his mother without their scalps came back to haunt her.

From Chapter 3 of The Price of Scorn: Cinderella's Evil Stepmother by Kae Elle Wheeler

SUNLIGHT HIT HILDA’S EYES like a shot from a loaded musket. She jerked the covers over her head but they were quickly stripped away, exposing her nakedness. Shame filled her. “Get out.”

Happy Friday! Here are the first three lines from chapter seven of my new book SIN CITY ALIBI.

Matt’s hand moved to Dani’s face, the pad of his thumb brushing her cheek before moving lower to trace the full edge of her mouth. She licked her lips, touching the tip of her tongue to his thumb. His quick intake of breath made her bold, and she nipped the digit with her teeth.

From chapter 1 of my WIP, Protecting Czarina by Alicia Coleman

Tingling slid slowly down Czarina’s spine like cold raindrops on a window pane. The hairs on her neck snapped to attention. She glanced longingly toward the exits but she’d promised Holly she would remain at the table in this darkened bar in Madison.

RIDE THE ROAN STUD
by Stevie Klark.

First three lines from Chapter One ~

As horse, Grant Thunderhead galloped over the magnificent harsh terrain of the Four Corners. His territory, as he thought of it, having lived on his small ranch spread for nine years now.

This land of majestic rock sculptures, or hoodoos, held ancient secrets.

The first two lines from STARQUEST, the first (complete) book of the 'Destiny trilogy' a SF romantic adventure.

The scream of the red alert cut rudely into Jess’s dreams, waking her instantly. She sprang from her bunk and ordered the computer to shut off the alarm, then pulled on her bodysuit and raced the short distance from her cabin to the flight deck.

First three lines of my new contemporary romance Her Greatest Risk.

Jennifer Aukland stepped in front of the unwelcoming locked gate – it was time.
With a mixture of tension and anticipation building in the air, she lifted her hand to receive the high-five from a co-worker. Then she lifted the aluminum pole that carried the message she wanted all to see – but especially the message she wanted to send to the developers planning to demolish a historic landmark.
