Hi, everyone. What follows are the first three lines of the novella itself. It's RED, RED ROSE wherein a close-mouthed cop falls for a mysterious stranger. In this last of the trilogy, Thomas has begun to miss the man who's 100 kilometers away from his bed.

Thomas Fitzgerald woke up embracing a sodden pillow and realized he’d either drooled or ejaculated into it. Maybe both.

He was gut-ache, heart-deep lonely, for the first time in his life.

Abby chewed her lip in anxious concentration as she peered through the windscreen, her fingers gripping the steering wheel so hard her knuckles were white. The narrow country road would be hard to negotiate at the best of times, but in the dark and the snow it was almost impossible. Despite her slow speed, the full beam from her headlights barely showed a bend until she was almost upon it — but since there was nowhere to turn around, all she
could do was grit her teeth, stay calm and fervently hope her satnav didn'ʹt lead her down a sheep track or into a swollen river.

Happy Friday! These are the first three lines from Chapter 13 of my latest novel, Sin City Alibi.

At Matt’s protracted silence, Dani lifted her head from his chest and looked at him, waiting expectantly for his response. He kept his eyes glued to the ceiling, but she could see in their depths the shadow of the dark secret chained inside his heart. “Matt?” she asked softly, prompting him, her chest going tight at what his hesitation meant, instinctively knowing she wouldn’t like his answer.

This is the first few lines of my novella The Prisoners of Wyvern Castle. It will be part of a book of short pieces out in time for Christmas.

As soon as he said the last words of the blessing, the fat priest stepped towards them, a broad smile on his face. "May I be the first to congratulate your graces?"

But the man to whom Madeline had just been joined ignored the outstretched hands and whirled around to advance on Lady Wyvern, who stood behind them.

"Very well. I have done what you demanded. Where is she?"
