“She felt herself redden. “Because, if you want to date me, I don’t know how,” she admitted. “I haven’t dated anyone since university and that wasn’t even proper dating. Tom took me out to dinner once. We were students; we couldn’t afford to go to restaurants, so it was usually fish and chips, or a burger. I don’t know how to date properly, Robert. I’ve never been out with a man your age and it’s mortifying to have to admit it. That’s why I take the easy way out and run. And, apart from that, your ex-girlfriend was everything I’m not.”

Mark slid his hands down Hailey's back to cup her buttocks and lift her higher against him and then onto the counter. His tongue was deep in her mouth now and she circled it with her own.

They were both breathing heavily. He leaned back just far enough to reach the hem of the top she was wearing, but she removed her arms from his neck and beat him to it.

She pulled her mouth away from his to peal her top over her head. Underneath, her breasts strained against her bra, and he could see the dark crests of her nipples through the white lace.

She was ahead of him again, reaching between her breasts to release the hook there. The fullness of her flesh pushed past the lace, and she teased it further backward with her fingertips until her breasts were free.

She reached beneath them, one in each hand, lifting them toward him. Her nipples were erect and red. She looked down at them, and he watched as she moved her thumbs from the pale roundness of her skin to the hard redness of each nipple.

She stroked back and forth, still watching herself and arching her back toward her own touch. She dragged her gaze gradually upward to his face as she continued stroking. Her eyes were glazed and lustrous.

“Put your mouth on me,” she said.

From The Marquesa's Necklace

“Harmony,” he said tentatively.
“Detective Thomason,” He might be trying to be friendly, but I still hadn’t forgiven him for arresting me.
He cleared his throat, and set the file back on his desk. “Did you let anyone borrow your car today?” he asked.
“No, my keys are right here.” I started digging through the contents of my purse.
“I’ll take your word for it,” he said, after I pulled out my checkbook, a packet of pink tissues, and a paperback with an almost-naked man on the front cover and piled them on the corner of his desk. His mouth twitched. “Have you made any new enemies recently, Miss Duprie?” I guess he got my message about the terms of our relationship.
“Besides a certain insufferable cop?” Even in the artificial fluorescent light, I saw the red rising in his cheeks. I could almost hear him counting to ten as I pretended to consider the question. “I think Larry, the florist, is ticked off that I’m not receiving flowers anymore. And Bart at the grocery store yelled at me last week when I went through the ten items or less line with fourteen items. But what does that have to do with someone stealing and wrecking my car?”

The man took a deep breath, which now strained the buttons on his immaculate white shirt. “I only argue before a jury. As we’re not in court—yet—that doesn’t apply here.”

She fought back a wave of panic. “You’re a lawyer?”

“Yes.”

Great. A lawyer who had just stood ranting at Uncle Bren. Things couldn’t get any worse. Or could they? And did she really want to know? “You look like you could use a little assistance with this...meeting.”

He smiled. Despite the situation, she couldn’t help but notice how it changed his entire expression, easing the hard frown lines bisecting his forehead, even lightening the color of his eyes from near black to a dark greenish-gray. An interesting transformation.

She didn’t trust the change in him for a minute.

Still, she squinted at him and found her head tilting slightly, her fingers curling around an imaginary paintbrush. With an effort, she blinked, bringing herself back to harsh reality.

“I could use a warrant and a padded cell.” He gestured over his shoulder. “If you think you’ve got any chance of knocking some sense into that scam artist, go right ahead.”

She squinted again, not in pleasure this time. “Wait a minute—”

“You’ve got no call to say that,” Uncle Bren interrupted, glaring at the man.

He sounded intimidating enough, but Kerry knew the real threat would come from her grandmother, always famous for jumping into any brawl.

Kerry looked over her shoulder. Sure enough, here Gran came, pushing her way through the crowd. “Out of my way, Kerry Anne. I don’t let anyone use such talk to my family, children nor grandchildren. And you know what happens when I get my Irish up.”

“I do know, Gran,” Kerry agreed, swallowing a sigh.

Today's snippet comes from my free eBook, If My Heart Could See You:

She contemplated him again, wondering at his ploy. “And how know you I am beautiful with just one glimpse of my face?”

“Anyone with eyes in his head could tell, fair damsel, you are indeed a fine looking woman.”

“They say beauty is not everything, my lord Dristan. Perchance I have a shrewish nature, as I have been told such afore.”

“Somehow, I think not.”

“Do you?” she repeated the same words of but seconds ago.

He interrupted her. “Besides, ’tis not fair you should know who I am, but I am not granted the same.”

“Any and all would be a fool not to know the Devil’s Dragon of Blackmore now claims his lair in Berwyck Castle.”

“Then you have heard of me and my reputation has proceeded me,” he cajoled.

“Aye, my lord, I have indeed knowledge of you.”

“I see you do not fear me, as some do upon first encountering me. Why is that, I wonder, when you in truth do not know my nature?” he questioned honestly.

“I fear no man,” she answered, as she raised her head defiantly with a flip of her head, “or beast for that matter!”

Dristan threw his head back and laughed. It sounded pleasant to her ears. “Well said, damsel. Mayhap in you I have finally met my match! Still you have me at a loss mistress...besides not giving me your name, that is.”

She tilted her head as she pondered his question. “How so, my lord?” she whispered softly. Her breath left her in a sudden rush as he began to make his way towards her. She could not breathe, and she could not move. Her sanity left her as she waited for what was to happen next.

This snippet is from my erotic shapeshifter romance, Tova's Dragon.

His gaze grew more intent. “You intrigue me, my lady mage. But you have not said how I can help you.”

“My magic is low,” she said. There was one way to increase it quickly, if she dared. “You could let me make love to you.”

A slow smile curved his full lips, causing her heart to beat faster. “That, my dear, will be my pleasure.”

Slowly, Tova pushed the furs off, exposing her body, and beckoned Kane. He moved toward the bed, never taking his gaze from hers, much like a predator stalking its prey. She shivered under his gaze, but whether from cold or anticipation, she could not say. He lowered himself to the bed of furs, but refrained from touching her.

Kneeling in front of him, she reached out to touch his face, tracing the strong plane of his jaw with one hand, the dark stubble prickling her fingertips. When she brushed her thumb over his lower lip, he opened his mouth and touched the tip of his tongue to her flesh.

Moving her hands to the back of his head, she tangled her fingers in his long, silky hair and leaned in to kiss the corner of his mouth. He turned his head slightly, capturing her lips with his own. His arms circled her waist and pulled her close until her breasts were pressed against his firm chest. She opened her mouth to his searching tongue. His scent surrounded her, smoky, musky, utterly masculine. A spark of magic stirred at the base of her spine, winding upward with the red haze of desire. She let her hands travel over his strong shoulders and chest to the bulge between his legs, reveling in the touch and taste of him, the sense of leashed power and masculine need.

With a groan, he broke off the kiss and buried his face against her neck. “I want you, Tova.”

She laughed, as her power inched higher. “Whatever you want, my lord. Tonight I am yours.”
