Introduction - E. Ayers

Waving hello to everyone who wanders this way. Grab a cup of virtual coffee and we'll talk.

We're all adults and that's nice. Sometimes getting away from the daily grind, spouses, and children is a good thing. Adults need adult time. Back in the day when my children were small, I craved time that wasn't filled with crayons. All these years later, I still appreciate the time I'm able to spend with female friends. That shared cup of coffee is no longer at the kitchen table after the children have left for school, it's more apt to be at Starbucks. That doesn't make it better or worse. What's important is to have that friend who understands.

Exquisite Quills is a pack of us who share virtual coffee and just about everything else from kids and spouses, to sinkholes, and heating systems that die in the worst of the winter cold. I keep telling them that if we don't celebrate a birthday then we really haven't had one, therefore we aren't any older. They don't believe me! They should because it's true.

I'll give you a little background on this group of bloggers. We've all been friends for a very long time. Some of these friendships probably go back more than ten years. And when it says from Sweet to Scorching, I'm one of the sweet ones. Not totally, I do write a little touch of sexy into my River City novels, but my In Wyoming novellas are always sweet. And what heat I write, well, that fifteen year old in your house isn't going to blink an eye over any of it.

On the other hand, a few of my dear friends on this blog will crisp the edges of your monitor or cause a complete melt-down. So why are we all friends? Because we are! Heat levels in books has to do with the readers and the readers' moods. It has nothing to do with the authors other than some authors choose to write with different words and evoke different feelings within the pages. What we write, has nothing to do with our friendships. We are authors and that is the bond between us.

I can't imagine life without my Exquisite Quill friends. And I hope you find the same sort of friendship with us. So please join us. Don't just lurk. We want to get to know you as we share our lives.
Uh-oh, I just got told to put all my books onto a page out here. I'm so techno-challenged. Who is going to hold my hand through that?

Hi E, glad you introduced yourself to the EQ blog. You're so right about friendships and especially amongst writers. We're the only ones who understand our successes and our fears. I've certainly enjoyed the friendships I have here with the EQ ladies, and now a couple of EQ gentlemen on the Yahoo Loop. ;-)

Hi E,

This wonderful new group has heart, and the friendship aspect is so important for us all. Writing can be a lonely place. On the other hand, we can crave solitude when there is too much going on and we need quiet for a story to unfold. I'm very thankful to be here and share with the fine ladies and gents in this group.

HI, Gemma. So happy that you came here! Yes, quiet is very important. I think that's why I tend to write/edit at night. Especially edit. It takes concentration! I don't know how some people manage with day jobs and children. When do they find the time?
