First Kiss Wednesday

Kisses are the mainstay of romance writing.  No matter how sweet or spicy our stories are, they usually involve at least a kiss or two.  And the first kiss is especially lovely - that first, soft touch of lips - or perhaps the kiss is fierce and hungry.  Maybe the characters murmur words of love or words of teasing while discovering the texture and taste of each other.  Maybe the only sounds they can emit are gentle, timorous moans or deep, throaty groans.

Okay, now that we've set the premise, here's what you can do for First Kiss Wednesdays.  In the comment box, give us a maximum of 300 words of the first kiss of a published work or a work-in-progress and one link to your website or blog or Amazon Author Page.

Read and luxuriate in the glories of the first kiss...

Oh, and lips only...  ;-)

From Under Fire: The Admiral by Rita Henuber
Admiral Gemma Hendrickson fled to Paris to put space between her and the younger man, Dr Ben Walsh, who is pursuing her romantically. The Doctor follows to convince her of his love. It’s working. After a day and evening enjoying the City of Lights Ben is taking her home to her apartment.

“See me safely upstairs.”
He hesitated. “Safely?”
She leaned into him. “Gargoyles,” she said in a loud whisper, her gaze darting side to side. She didn’t want the day to end.
Ben laughed. “Okay, I’ll protect you from the gargoyles.”
They walked up the stairs silently, arms linked. He took her key, unlocking the door. “Home safe. No gargoyles.” He gave a little bow. When he straightened, she kissed him.
He eased back and fear that he’d changed his mind about her forced its way into the cracks in her self-confidence. “Gemma, I . . .” He cupped her head with both hands, fanning his thumbs along the edge of her jaw, then bent and gave her a slow, deep, soul-melding kiss that went on forever. His tongue met and danced with hers.
“Stay with me,” she said when they broke the kiss.
Ben went still. “You’re killing me.” He shook his head as his eyes searched hers. “You have no idea how much I want that. Want you.” His breath came in short bursts brushing her cheeks.
“Then stay.” Her own voice low and husky with desire.
“I promised you.” He shook his head. “I promised myself we’d take it slow.” He blew out a breath between clenched teeth.
“What if . . . I don’t want to take it slow?” She rubbed against him. Against the bulge in his jeans. He stepped back like he’d been burned.
“I don’t want this to just be about sex. I want you to be sure this is what you want. We’ve had one day together. One day without car accidents, drug cartels shooting at us, plane crashes, tramping through a jungle. One day without Navy SEALs, and military types. In a week I don’t want to become a mistake you made.”

My books are about Extraordinary Women and the Men They Love and feature military heroines. http://www.amazon.com/Rita-Henuber/e/B005D1LKPA/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1

With Halloween just around the corner, here’s a kiss from Dreamscape. Written in homage to Agatha Christie, Dreamscape is a haunting, a murder, a thriller, a mystery, and a love story that transcends time. Above all, this sensual tale is a reader's Easter egg hunt in the truest sense. Not everything is as it appears. Peppered throughout are little clues suggesting a story running behind the scenes. Finding them isn't necessary to the telling of the tale, just one of the fun twists I like to insert into my writing. Can you find them all before the story ends? But more importantly, can a ghost find love among the living?
.......................................
“You’ve been thinking?”
Noting how her eyes suddenly dilated, and her pulse throbbed at her porcelain throat, it took effort for Jason to find his thoughts. “Yes, I caught a piece of your conversation with Lexie in the kitchen. I appreciate your wanting details of my disappearance. I have none myself, you see.” He didn’t want to cloud the investigation through her dreams so left out the fact he’d been murdered. Another droplet rolled over her collarbone, and he unconsciously pulled out his handkerchief to dab it away.
She gasped softly.
The sound was his undoing. He pulled her into his arms for a kiss before he realized he’d done it. Her mouth was warm and sweet, and his tongue twined with hers as he crushed her to him with every particle of his essence. Feeling her sensual surrender as her arms wrapped around him to deepen the kiss, he stopped to chastise himself thinking, There is no future in this, you stupid fool.
Taking her arms from him, he said, “I’ll leave you to your sleep. Perhaps we can talk more tomorrow.” With that, he disappeared.
Lanie looked at the spot where he’d been only an instant before, the tingling kiss leaving her breathless.

This is from my first novel, Dangerous Deceit by Romy Gemmell, which is a sweet Regency romantic intrigue.

Quicker than she believed possible, Marcus Sheldon was at her side and caught her in his arms.
Without uttering a word, he picked her up and Lydia almost fainted then at the feelings that coursed through her body. She was most aware of the strength of his arms through the thin fabric of her nightgown and of his eyes never leaving hers. She hardly dared to breathe, while he continued to hold her. She could see the conflicting emotion in his darkened eyes. Then, without conscious thought, she looked at his firm but sensuous lips. She closed her eyes lest he could see how much she longed to feel their touch on her mouth.

“Lydia…” His voice was less sure and she opened her eyes. And his lips gently found hers.

Never had she imagined such depth of feeling take hold of her whole body as she willingly yielded her mouth to his, wanting only to stay here forever.

This is from my new release, Her Royal Masquerade:

“We haven’t even kissed.” The protest was a weak one to be sure, but they were moving too fast. Rushing toward something she was afraid to embrace.
“A kiss is a prerequisite to sex?” he asked, amused. “If that is so, then I’ll remind you of the kiss we shared on the dance floor.”
“What kiss?” She forced a light laugh. “Oh, that little brush of lips in full view of the entire room? You call that a—”
Vittorio cupped the back of her neck, tugged her forward and crushed his lips to hers.
Heat. He tasted like rich, sweet heat, a treat for the senses. A promise of erotic pleasures to come. Mia opened to him on a moan, letting him invade her with his probing tongue, letting him devour her where she stood. She sank against him and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her tight against his hard, hot body. He was burning her alive.

Excerpt from "Undercover Lovers", newly re-released as part of a 2-in-1 eBook with 2 novels starring female secret agents.

Set-up: Ex-agent Ameena, hunted by the serial killer she put away years ago, is accompanied 24/7 by 1 of 2 male agents who volunteered to keep her safe. At a birthday party for a celebrity who is a voyeur, she explains to Adam that the host requires a sex-video from each guest before they leave. He's been thinking it's his partner that she was interested in.
*****

"I promised him I'd give him a show he'd never forget this year."
She watched his eyes widen as he realized the full ramifications of her words.
"But it was supposed to be Tomás that came with you here. Wasn't it?"
Ameena shrugged as she smiled seductively at him.
"Remember I said there were a couple of reasons that I wanted it to be you?"
He nodded, "Because I was the one who was used to being up all night..."
She leaned in closer to him, to whisper into his ear, "The other reason was that I don't want him in my bed. I want you."
*****

Adam listened to the sound of the blood pulsing through his body as it all rushed to stretch the skin of his already hardened cock to its breaking point. He wondered briefly if it was possible for it to explode from engorgement. He had stopped breathing...stopped dancing...stopped blinking. He was barely capable of thinking.
Me? She wants me? Me!
Ameena had begun loosening his tie, and her fingertips caressed the skin of his neck. She traced from his chin around to his ears, then pressed gently against the back of his neck to get him to lower his head enough for her to press her lips against his. They both leaned into the kiss as every inch of their bodies pressed together. His hands kneaded the back of her hips as he ground himself into her and groaned.
"When?"
She looked into his eyes, now cloudy with passion. Her lips curved into a smile.
"Now is good for me!"
He only nodded, having temporarily lost the ability to speak coherently.

This is from my latest Christmas story, Halo's Wish. A Contemporary romance.

He did the most unexpected thing; he lifted her hand and brushed his lips across the top. When she pulled her hand back, he took her face in his hands and brushed those same lips over hers. He trailed those lips down the side of her neck, and then stepped back.
"I'll be seeing you, sweet Halo," he said before he left.
Man, he had smoking hot lips. Her spine shot sparklers to her brain.

Every time he touched her, she melted, and whenever she was in that semi-liquid state, she couldn’t refuse him anything. God help her. So when he tilted her face toward his, she shuddered, closed her eyes and breathed in the scent of his citrusy aftershave mixed with a masculine soap. He smelled so good. When his soft lips covered hers and his strong fingers curled around the back of her neck, all thoughts of serial killers, medical tests and Bruce flew from her mind as though they were being pursued by Homeland Security.

This time his kisses were different–long, deep and a bit rough. Gianne found her hands grasping and fingernails digging into the taut muscles of his shoulders. Marc devoured the soft sounds she couldn’t resist making. When his lips left her mouth and moved to her neck, and his hands traveled up her spine in a languid crawl, any reservations she’d had about their relationship becoming more serious evaporated into the charged air surrounding them. Marc’s hands inched down to the small of her back and rested on the curve of her bottom. He gently squeezed, uttered a moan then lifted her onto his lap, never breaking the kiss.

Gianne sighed when he slipped the strap of her sundress over her shoulder and kissed the skin beneath. Shocked by her response to this man she hadn’t even known a month ago, she pressed her hands against his chest. The thundering of his heartbeat beneath her palms stunned her, and she asked in a breathless whisper, “What are we doing, Marc?”

This first kiss is from my paranormal pirate short story, MAROONED. The premise is: A witch's spell goes awry, leaving her marooned on a desert islet with a sexy pirate captain. This scene shows the first kiss between Heather and Adam, the pirate captain. When they met, she heard a voice in her heading saying, "He is the one."
------------

Heather stood to face him, her hand still in his. “I am made of sterner stuff than most ladies.”

“I see that. There is, perhaps, one solution to this dilemma. I could claim you as my share-and-a-half from the Sea Rover.” He let go of her hands and pulled her to him, one arm around her waist. His other hand grabbed hold of her hair and tugged her head back. She looked up into his face and saw that his eyes were green flecked with gold. They glittered with desire.

Her hands were pressed to his warm chest and her stomach against his groin. She felt his hard shaft and a strange warmth crept over her body. It spoke of anticipation and need. What was wrong with her? She should be repelled and disgusted by his touch. But she was not. Giving her head a quick shake, she forced herself to think logically. “Your share-and-a-half? What does that mean?”

“When a ship is captured, the quartermaster catalogs the goods on board, then it is divided evenly among the crew. The captain receives a share-and-a-half. You would be mine.”
He is the one. The words rang through her mind.

“What would you do with me?” she asked, her voice suddenly husky.

“I know what I’d like to do,” he said, as his mouth descended.

His lips touched hers, lightly at first, then with more insistence. She waited for the revulsion, but it never came. Instead, a languorous warmth spread through her.

“Open your mouth,” he murmured against her lips.

“Why?” she asked, just before his mouth closed on her lower lip, sucking on it gently. She gave herself up to his expert kisses, not even objecting when his tongue stole inside her mouth.

This first kiss is from Dream Date (Dare to Dream), my first novel!
He slid closer to her on the seat and she raised her hands up to the sides of his face, her touch tentative at first. She loved the way his short beard hairs pricked her palms. The tip of her tongue came out to moisten her lips before her eyes met and held his.
“May I kiss you now, Katie?” he whispered teasingly.
She leaned into him slowly and he lowered his mouth to hers.
A jolt of pure delight rocked her womb as soon as his lips touched hers and she moaned against his mouth when he relinquished control to her, allowing her to eagerly taste every inch of his lips. She ran the tip of her tongue across his full bottom lip before gently sucking it into her mouth, and he groaned with pleasure as his hands circled around her back, pulling her against him. She was practically purring as she ran her tongue across his upper lip. She had to remind herself that his beautiful mouth hid other delicious delights that she needed to savor, and she kissed him fully, coaxing his mouth open so that she could dart her tongue inside. Her hands rubbed along his bearded jawline before continuing on up and around to the back of his head, threading her fingers into his thick hair. She pulled his head down to her, deepening the kiss.
She is absolutely delicious, Jason thought as his hands slid under her jacket, exploring the large expanse of bare back that the style of the dress provided. Those pretty lips of hers were every bit as soft and warm as they had looked and the way that she was enthusiastically exploring his mouth was unbelievably arousing. Her skin was just as warm, so soft and silky smooth, he never wanted to stop touching her, but there was so much to do, and so little time. He ran his hands up her back, over the jacket, to the nape of her neck, burrowing his fingers under the curtain of her silky hair. It felt amazing, just as he’d known it would, and he contented himself with lazily looping strands around his fingers as she continued to explore his mouth with her
tongue.

This kiss is from the reunion scene from my erotic western romance, GAMBLING WITH LOVE.

The H, Nick, is a marshal who must arrest the love of his life, Lanie, a professional gambler. They'd parted months ago, right after she shot him...

***

“What was the real reason you shot me?” He thought he saw a glimmer of regret and guilt in her eyes, but it was gone in a flash when she leaned down to kiss him.

“Does it really matter now? What’s important is that I only shoot the men I really love.”

“How many men have you shot?”

She murmured against his mouth, “Just you, darlin’. Just you.”

Her breath and lips were sweet with peppermint, and a rush of pent-up, smoldering need pulsed through his veins as hot as molten lava flowing from a volcano. He savored her mouth, losing himself in bittersweet remembrance of their brief but intense weeks together when he’d fallen in love with her. The long months since he’d last made love to her slipped from his heart, and he almost forgave her for running out on him.

Almost.

She whispered in his ear, “I’ve missed you, darlin’.”

“You crossed my mind a time or two.” Hell. He’d thought of little else. The mixture of lust and love tinged with just a hint of broken heart clawed at his belly, and he pulled her down roughly to kiss her again.

A moaning sigh escaped her throat...

“Isn’t it cold out here for you?”

Ignoring his question, Corinna responded with one of her own. “Weren’t you aware that stealing up on people is impolite?”

“And aren’t you aware that it’s unwise for a young lady to stand outside alone?”

“I wasn’t alone,” she said.

“I know.”

Corinna’s gaze flew to his face. How much had he overheard? Her mind raced, searching for some way to test his knowledge.

“Is he a beau of yours?” Stuart asked.

He hadn’t heard. No one could mistake Philip as her beau if they’d been privy to the conversation. Corinna nearly laughed with relief.
“Really, sir, you overstep your bounds. I’m sure it’s n-no c-concern of yours.” She shivered again.

“You are cold.” Stuart moved closer.

Corinna tried to back up, but the balustrade kept her from moving.

“Afraid?”

“N-no, b-but Philip will return any minute.” Cold was not the cause of her stammer.

“He’s jealous then, as well he should be. You shouldn’t be permitted to wear such dresses.”

She glanced down. The taut material pressed up the full roundness of her breasts. The moon cast a pale glow upon her skin. Before she could respond, he threaded his fingers through her hair. He held her head and lowered his mouth to hers.

His kiss was different than any of the others she had experienced. This was no shy young boy holding her. His lips had a strength, a fire, a power. And he used the power he had dangerously.

Men in kilts, time travel, faeries...

From 'Just Once in a Verra Blue Moon':

Elspeth caught her breath. Everywhere Finn touched her as they tried to break apart, her skin tingled. When their gazes met, everything else faded away. The world reduced to only the two of them, and his mouth dipped toward hers.

His lips grazed hers and fire blazed through Elspeth to her toes, the moment lasting an eternity. Finn’s tongue pushed between her lips, seeking entrance. Her mind reeled. With little thought, she wrapped her arms around his waist and twirled her tongue around his. Passion. Unlike the minimal pecks she’d received from Alexander, Finn’s fierce kiss conquered, possessed.

She wanted more.

The sound of a throat clearing broke the spell, and Finn’s sinful mouth pulled away, leaving behind a fracture in the foundation of Elspeth’s expectations for the future.

This is from my novella published by Loose ID, Hard-Ass Is Here
By S.C. Wynne

He took off his jacket and slung it over a chair. His muscles rippled under thin blue silk. “Would you like a drink?”
“Sure.” My heart pounded. I hadn’t been with anyone since Gregory. Casual sex had become foreign, but I wanted Phillip. I wasn’t sure what I wanted him for, but standing in his suite just then, I might have been willing to take whatever he would give me.
He took two crystal glasses from the kitchen cupboard and poured us both a glass of whiskey from a bottle on the counter. I was surprised when I noticed the label.
“I didn’t know you could get that anymore,” I said in amazement.
“It was a gift.” He handed me a glass. I felt the smooth tips of his fingers as I accepted the snifter, and I swear I felt an electric current. “But it is the best damn scotch I’ve ever tasted.”
I took a sip. The smooth, nutty, and peat-smoked liquid ran down my dry throat. Warmth radiated into the center of my chest. “That is good.”
Phillip laughed and set his whiskey on the counter. He walked toward me, closing the distance between us before lightly tugging at the rim of my glass. I hadn’t realized how tense I was until he had trouble prying it from my hand. He smiled knowingly as he set the glass aside. Grasping my shoulders, he pushed me back until I was against the wall near the door. I inhaled, reveling in the clean citrus scent of his cologne.
“I’ve wanted to do this all night,” he murmured, pressing his palms down along my chest.
Phillip leaned against me, his warm mouth covering mine. My heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest. His caress was exploring, and I could feel his hardness against my thigh as I drank hungrily from his kisses. He tasted different from Gregory. His lips were fuller, and his breath had the sweet honey tones from the scotch and his own heady flavor.
“This is such a bad idea,” I said against his mouth, but I kissed him back anyway. He was the first man I’d enjoyed kissing since Gregory. I thought I would feel guilty screwing someone else, but the weight of Phillip’s body heavy against me was exhilarating. I could sense restrained power just below the surface of his hard body. It excited and scared me. I was trembling and out of control with my need for him.
His mouth covering mine, he tugged me insistently toward the dark kitchen. I followed, distracted by the feel of his moist tongue as we moved. He guided me backward until I stumbled into the kitchen table. I heard the scrape of wooden legs across the tile floor as the table slid away from the impact. Phillip halted the sliding table and grabbed my elbow to steady me, stabilizing me in his grip and barely saving me from landing on the kitchen floor. I began to laugh but was interrupted by hungry kisses and urgent fingers.

From "Charades", first book in my "Games People Play" series....Ethan just found out that his sister murdered a man..........

As she watched him, something inside Reese slipped. Pain wedged into her heart as she took the phone from him and set it down. With an unsteady hand, she touched his arm, wanting to comfort him yet needing to keep her distance. Ethan lifted her hand to his cheek and held it there. Reese went rigid and put her hand on his chest but he cupped the back of her neck and held her tight. Her breath jammed in her chest and her pulse rocked.
"I can't do this," she said hoarsely.
"I can," he murmured lowering his mouth to hers. "I need to." The kiss was feather light, hardly more than warm air on her lips. She pressed her hands against his chest as his arms circled her shoulders and he deepened the kiss. She dropped her arms, clenched her fists, not ready to give in, to welcome the heat that swam through her. But his mouth was soft and so warm and pleading. With a moan she leaned into him and wrapped her arms around him. His hands rose into her hair, and lips teased hers open, tongue played inside her mouth. When his hands trailed down her spine she snapped out of the delicious trance she was in and she shoved back.
Gasping, she shook her head. "No. Stop, I can't."
He stopped, his breath coming quick, his eyes blue sparks. "So you've said." She couldn't tell if he was angry or insulted but she couldn't deal with either of those right now. "Are you seeing someone?" he asked.
"What?" Could the man get more arrogant? "No, Chamberlain, I'm not seeing someone. God, why is it always an ego thing with you guys? Does it ever occur to you that there might be a reason behind the no? Can't a girl say no just because she doesn't want some guy's hands all over her, doing whatever he damn well pleases with her?"

Here's the first kiss between Harper and Morgan in Harper's Submission. He' hot and she's stubborn!

Harper’s Submission - by Skye Michaels - Book 2 of the Golden Dolphin Series
M/F - BDSM/Erotic Romance/Contemporary/Heat Level: Scorching
http://www.bookstrand.com/harpers-submission

“Harper, I want you to do a scene with me. I think there’s a whole other level you need to discover.”
“You mean you’ll bottom for me?” Her expression told him she was astounded.
He laughed. “No, Harper, you’ll bottom for me.” He gazed into her eyes, compelling her to submit. “Think of it as a learning experience. It will make you a better Domme. You’ll understand what it feels like to be helpless, the one on the bottom.”
“No need. I very well understand what it feels like to be at someone else’s mercy, and I don’t plan to ever be there again. I never abuse my subs.”
“Then maybe I can teach you to trust. I don’t see much of that in your eyes.” He could see she was confused and uncertain. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her ruthlessly, putting every ounce of emotion he had into it and drawing out every ounce of emotion she had as well. He drove his tongue into her mouth and dueled with hers until she was subdued. When he pulled back, he brushed some silky black hair back from her face. “Let me do this for you, Harper. I think you really need to let go, let some bad things out. Maybe what’s bothering you really needs to see the light of day.”
Over the last several days they had spent together he had watched her carefully. He knew there was something under the surface that was eating at her. Despite her success as a trial attorney and her skill as a Domme, there was something missing. He had noticed both at Le Club and aboard the Golden Dolphin that while Harper engaged with her subs, she did not allow them to engage with her. He had never seen her have sex or allow one of them to provide her pleasure. The D/s relationship should be a two-way street, and Harper seemed to only go one way.

This is from my just-released contemporary romance, A Groom for Christmas, about a fake engagement that soon turns into something much more.

Next to him, Graceann let out a sigh. “Here we are. Curtain time.”
He unfastened his seatbelt and leaned toward her. “Might as well start now.” Framing her face between his hands, he touched his lips to hers. At first she stiffened, but he continued to press his lips against hers, drinking in her sweetness. Her lips softened and she let out a low moan. Surprised and pleased at her reaction, he deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue into her willing mouth. She slid her hands up his chest and pressed closer.
Suppressing a groan, he fought the desire to skim his hands over her ribcage to her chest. For a petite woman, she had magnificent breasts.
The sound of voices cut through his sensual haze. He reluctantly drew away. Graceann watched him with wonder in her incredible eyes. Her breathing was labored. He resisted a smile. This gig might be lots more interesting than he’d hoped.
“That was for practice, right?” She rubbed a finger over her lips and lowered her voice. “You really know how to play a part.”
“You didn’t like it?”
Her face pinked. “It doesn’t matter what I like. This is a business deal.”
“So you keep reminding me.” He looked toward the steps where a group of people huddled watching them. “Your family?”
She looked over and groaned. “Do you think they saw us?”
“I’m sure they did. You stay there and I’ll come around and open your door.”
“I’m capable of opening my own door.”
He touched the tip of her nose. “But we want to make a good impression, especially on your grandmother.”
“Then maybe we’d better sit here for a little while,” she said with a pointed glance at his lap.
He grinned. “See what you do to me?” When she rolled her eyes, he laughed. “Give me a minute or two.”

This is from my best selling contemporary romance, Reckless Nights In Rome. http://amzn.to/1cev7kh

He held her hand, those eyes still watching her carefully. She couldn’t read his expression. This was moving too fast in one way and not fast enough in another. Not for the first time, she felt he could read her mind.
He brought her fingers to his mouth and nuzzled the tips.
“I am making you nervous, cara. But I can’t seem to stop staring at you in that amazing dress. Would you like a drink?”
She shook her head and he held her gently, his hands stroked her bare shoulders and down her arms.
Slowly he tangled his hand in her hair pulling her head back.
Nerves dried up her throat. Why wouldn’t her brain function?
“Nico, I don’t think this ...”
Those eyes, dark with desire, studied the pulse thundering under her ear and he touched his fingertip to the spot.
“You think too much,” he murmured and lowered his head.
He was going to kiss her, thank God.
His mouth stopped a whisper from hers.
Those eyes asked a silent question as they stared into hers.
And she knew it was up to her to take the next irrevocable step.
Bronte swayed and her mouth found his. Her heart was battering against her ribs, resounding in her ears, while his lips gently tasted her. Slowly he took them both, sinking, into a deep drugging kiss. She had no idea it would be like this. It was all there, the power and the strength. She opened her mouth and he tasted her with thoroughness, so seductive, she almost wept. Swaying together, his fingers explored her neck, moved into her hair, gently tipping her head back to deepen the angle of the kiss. She’d heard of lights flashing before a person’s eyes, but had never experienced the phenomenon until now.
Nico tasted of pure sin and she loved it. Bronte pressed her body against his, tunnelling her fingers through his hair.
Nico caught her bottom lip between his teeth and she groaned into his mouth.
Through narrowed eyes he watched her eyes mist and go dark. A spear of hot and heedless lust shot straight to his loins. Hard and demanding now, his mouth plundered.
Even as she dropped away towards surrender, Bronte’s fingers gripped his hair and held fast.
She heard him groan in his throat, but the sound was muted by the roar of her frantically beating heart. His body was so hard and powerful, his mouth, so hot and potent. Heat flooded and scorched her body from that one point of contact. His hands explored every inch of her naked back and she gave herself up to the sensations pulsing into her breasts and trembling low in her belly. The need to feed and feed warred with the need to give and give.
Her fingertips constantly explored his silky black hair. God, he felt fabulous. Her breath mingled with his, rasping in her throat and those hands drove her out of her mind as they slid under the fabric of her dress, skimmed under her breasts, teasing and torturing, never touching her aching nipples.
Bronte trembled on the brink of the abyss, ready to leap. A voice screamed in her head demanding to know what she was doing. She didn’t even know this man.
Tearing her mouth from his, she gulped in a breath as her world lurched and tipped her out.
“No, Nico ...”

"Animal Behavior" by Gabrielle Holly (c) 2013

...he glanced up and found her staring at him. This time, she didn’t look away. His gaze swept her face. Her pupils dilated and her lips parted and reddened. Her throat and face flushed, but the scent of arousal from between her legs made it clear that she was anything but embarrassed.

Need crashed over him and he knew that he was nearing the point of no return. Rules or no rules, if he didn’t get out of there soon, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself. He ground his teeth and readied himself to stand and leave, but she reached out and stroked his cheek. It was the first time in three years that he’d allowed a woman to touch is face. He met her gaze then leaned into her hand. The place where their skin met seemed to vibrate and every inhibition drained from him. The urge to touch, taste and please her overwhelmed him. He didn’t care what the consequences were, he had to have her.

Alex stood and placed his hands on the back of the couch, one on either side of her head, then leaned in and crushed his lips against hers, wanting to devour her essence. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him to her. He thrust his tongue into her mouth and she met his probing kiss.

The feel of her lips, the scent of her, the sounds of her soft moans, were more intoxicating than he could have imagined and the intimacy of it nearly overwhelmed him. It had been so long since he had thought of a woman as something other than a receptacle for his needs. Long-buried emotions bubbled to the surface along with his desire...
