First Kiss Wednesday

It's  First Kiss Wednesday!

Kisses are the mainstay of romance writing.  No matter how sweet or spicy our stories are, they usually involve at least a kiss or two.  And the first kiss is especially lovely - that first, soft touch of lips - or perhaps the kiss is fierce and hungry.  Maybe the characters murmur words of love or words of teasing while discovering the texture and taste of each other.  Maybe the only sounds they can emit are gentle, timorous moans or deep, throaty groans.

Okay, now that we've set the premise, here's what you can do.  In the comment box, give us your best kiss from a published work or a work-in-progress in a maximum of 300 words. Be sure to include one link to your website/blog and one buy link.

Read and luxuriate in the glories of the first kiss...

Oh, and lips only...  ;-)

Tangled Love
By
Rosemary Morris

A Historical Novel set in the reign of Queen Anne Stuart 1702 -1714

‘Am I your love?’ Richelda asked unable to conceal her bewilderment. Viscount Chesney had never before said anything to indicate he loved her.
‘You would be easy to love, Richelda. You do not mind me calling you Richelda, do you?’
She opened her mouth to say no but he spoke first.
‘This is the right time to ask you something, but first forgive me for not being able to resist temptation.’
One firm hand cupped the back of her head. The other pressed her towards him. His coat slipped off her shoulders. She laid the flat of her hands against his chest and pushed hard. He drew her closer. His mouth worked its unique magic against her own before he kissed her sensitive neck.
Dizzy with delight, Richelda wanted to rest her head on his chest, to accept more from him, but she knew she must not for propriety’s sake. ‘You are not a gentleman, release me.’
He ignored her protest.
Thrills, intensified by the touch of his warm lips against the tender swell of her breasts above her stays, ran through her. Never had she imagined her first kisses would cause rapture such as he evoked. She wanted more of them, but fearful of the emotions he aroused in her she shuddered. ‘No! Release me.’
‘Oh, Richelda, enchanting Richelda, I have something to ask you,’ he repeated, his voice husky, his breath coming much faster than usual.

From Geek Games:

Inside my head, the vidi of me and Beram naked together in the steamy shower played two or three times. I nodded. “Who goes first?”
Suresh grinned.“You two may have the honor of the first shower this time.”
Gamal crossed his arms and stared at me.
Remove my clothes here, with Gamal and Suresh eager to examine my every move? The air stuck in my throat. They'd have a clear view of my naked body's reaction to Beram.
Gamal poked Suresh with his elbow and whispered something in his ear.
I'd probably been broadcasting my thoughts again. But lust overcame my fear, and Beram and I stripped and stepped into the shower. We soaped up, and I couldn't help staring. Beram's smooth skin showed no body hair at all.
"No Aleyni has body hair," he said. "You didn't realize?"
I shook my head. "How would I?" Did he find body hair repulsive? Mildly distasteful? Intriguing, the way I found his smooth skin?
Beram touched a control on the wall and blasts of steam washed us clean. While I hesitated, wondering what to do, Beram pulled my head toward him and kissed me. I kissed him back.
His warm lips pressed against mine, smooth and soft. I breathed in the fragrance of citrus soap and musk, Beram's odor and mine. Our mouths were closed, and it lasted only a moment, but the universe tilted; and when it tilted back, everything changed.
No question remained: I loved men, always would. Period, end of sentence. The recognition started in my gut, in the center of my body, and radiated outwards.
I took a step back and grinned at Beram. He placed a hand on the side of my face, only for a moment. It was the most intimate thing I'd ever experienced .
Gamal and Suresh waited outside the shower, both leaning against the wall and grinning. Suresh poked Gamal, whispering something like, "Pay up."

From The Garnet Dagger Book 1 in the Legends of Oblivion Series and $1.99 at Kindle this month only :
I brushed back a leaf stuck in her blond hair. My fingers glided across her brow and a shock radiated through me.
Perhaps, because I was already full from my curse, I could touch her? Cautious, I leaned over her. My lips tingled before they even brushed hers.
She sighed against my mouth, and kissed me back.
Her mouth opened like a blossom.

Hi!

Today I'm sharing the first lip-lock between Emsley and Rayne from Busted in Bubbles by my alter ego Skylin O'Thomas.

Set up: Emsley sneaks into Rayne's cabin and discovers him soaking in a tub full of bubbles. She likes what she sees and joins him.

~*~

"Someone has to keep you on your toes, Ems. The whole short sheeting of my bed is fun and all, but come on… it's been a year." He leaned forward a little, his mouth hovering an inch from hers. "I think it's time to play something else, don't you?"

Emsley fought back a shudder. God, his voice sounded like good Scotch. Smooth, with just a touch of bite to it.

Her tongue flicked out, wetting her lower lip. "Something more grown up maybe?" She straddled his thighs and scooted forward until her hips were flush with his groin, his thick erection pressing against her. "I could go for that… if you're really game."

Rayne moved fast, capturing her lips in a very hot kiss. Emsley groaned low in her throat and gave herself over to the onslaught of sensory overload. His tongue swept inside her mouth and she responded, wrapping her arms around him, one hand traveling up to the back of his head, her fingers raking through his dark hair. The other slid down his back, drawing him closer. She wanted to feel his skin against hers. Craved the contact like an addict.

A first for her. She rarely felt a consuming need for sex. Then again, she'd had a thing for Rayne since the day they bumped into each other at his first conference three years ago. She'd gotten to know him, not well, but enough to know he found her attractive.

First kiss for Matt, the father of a high school student, and Kate, the school principal, in Unexpected Legacy, a contemporary fiction with romantic elements.

He lingered in front of her, and Kate shot him a questioning look.
To her surprise, he reached out and put a hand on her shoulder. “Kate . . . would you like to have dinner with me sometime?”
She braced a hand against her desk, heat rushing to her face as her heart pounded. She swallowed hard before attempting to answer. “You mean . . . as in a date? A dinner date?”
A lazy grin spread over his face, causing her heart to slam against her chest.
“Yeah. Like a date. Dinner out. You and me.”
She looked at the floor, very aware of his warm hand still on her shoulder, and his eyes watching her.
Slowly she looked up, and shook her head. “I can’t,” she whispered. “I’d love to Matt, but I’m sorry. I just can’t.”
He hadn’t moved. Instead, his hand moved up and down her arm. When she started to take a step to the side, he stopped her with his other hand.
“Why not?” he asked. He bent his knees to look into her eyes. “Is there someone else?”
She chewed her lip a moment before answering. “No, but I can’t date the parent of one of my students.”
“What?” His eyes narrowed as they bore into her. “Is that a school policy?”
She looked away. “No. It’s not an official policy. But it’s not the way I operate.”
“Kate, I’m not married. It’s not like we’d be having an affair or something.”
“It just doesn’t look right, and I don’t ever want any suspicion of favoritism or inappropriate behavior.”
“Ah. I see.”
He was quiet for a moment. When she finally looked up, his mouth claimed hers.
Heat surged through Kate, and her mind reeled, as his lips moved over hers, warm and searching. His hands pressed her back, and he stepped closer, deepening the kiss.
Dazed, she tightened her grip on his arm when he abruptly pulled back.
“Might be time to re-think your position,” he said, lightly brushing his thumb against her lips.
Her lips were still buzzing when he closed the door behind him.

Second Chance, Chances trilogy #1, by Martha O’Sullivan

Brian turned her by the shoulders and cradled her face in his hands. His stare fell on her mouth, and after a long, poignant beat, he brought his lips to a whisper away from hers and hovered. At first he only grazed, questing. Then, sensing her unwitting surrender, he curved his hands behind her neck and pulled her to him.
And dove.
His mouth was wet and hungry. Very, very hungry as if it hadn’t eaten in eons. And when hers alone wasn’t enough to satiate it, he found her tongue and plunged deep. He fed greedily, drawing all of her into his mouth and feasting little by little, bite by bite, until not a breath remained between them. Then with a spent sigh, he ran his tongue along her teeth so sensually that she quivered with long forgotten dampness below. He mumbled her name as if he’d never said it before and let out a jagged breath. “I miss you. I miss us.”
“Bri,” Lindsay heaved, basking in the joy of being in his arms again. Until she realized she was in Brian’s arms again. She sprung back, mortified by her visceral reaction, and braced herself against the bank of cabinets that lined the back wall of the kitchen.

From A TOUCH OF DAWN, under my alternate pen name Erica Sutherhome.

He shrugged. “When you’re in that situation, it feels lonely. So, yes, I didn’t have a support group of others that had been through it before. But, I want to be that for someone else.”
She reached up and touched his cheek. From his widened gaze, she knew she had shocked him and that he probably wanted to pull away from her. She had that automatic reaction with people too. “I admire you, Jack. You’re a good man.”
He frowned. “Ever heard of transference?”
Her jaw clenched briefly. “Don’t be a bastard. I know the way I feel.”
“Well, then.” He chuckled. “You never stop surprising me.”
“I hope not,” she whispered.
He seemed to stare at her for a long time. Then he kissed her. When their lips met, it was like a fire bursting between them. Caitlyn closed her eyes and submitted to him. His mouth moved over hers gently and his tongue met hers just as tentatively. It was just what she needed, that careful discovery, and she responded in kind.
He pulled away, releasing a breath. “Wow.”
“I agree.” She touched her lips. She had been with one man long before she was kidnapped and it had certainly never felt like that.
“I don’t know how to feel about that.”
“Me neither.” She sighed. “You can’t exactly call that platonic.”
“No, you can’t. Second thoughts?”
“No, not at all.” Though her racing heart said otherwise. But, Jack was so good to her. For her. She just knew it, whether or not it made sense to other people.

Excerpt from Seeing Red by E. L. Esch:

“I’ll be over in an hour.” Click. I held the phone from my face for at least five minutes and stared. When it started to beep like it’d spontaneously combust, I hung it up and groaned.

“My sister’s coming over,” I mumbled to Silo. Grinning, I grabbed a metal cooking pot lid off the counter and set it atop Silo’s head. “There—protective gear.”

Silo took the lid in his hands and checked to make sure it was clean before replacing it over his head. “I’ll go build a pillow fort in the bedroom, General. That’ll hold her for sure!”

“You’d better hurry if you want to hide out until the bombs are done dropping, soldier.” Bombs, ha. More like nukes. Big, explosive, can-wipe-out-a-major-city nukes.

“You can’t make me go, General.” Silo leaped to his feet and seized my arm. The whole of his weight barreled into my body as he pulled me into the bear hug of bear hugs. “I’ll see this through with you till the very end!”

We both stopped struggling—me to get out of Silo’s grip and Silo to hold on to me—and regarded each other for a long time. Something in Silo’s icy-blue gaze stirred my stomach. I felt like a can of soda being shaken—the bubbles rising up from the bottom of my belly and evaporating light and airy-like in my chest. And then Silo kissed me, and the bubbles popped.

“You taste like cola, General.” Silo rubbed my lower lip with his thumb, sneaking the tip down against my tongue. I sucked on it, tasting the remnants of red sauce in the grooves.

“You’re the one who tastes like cola.” I smiled. “You wanna—”

Silo took the lid from his head and set it on the counter. The metallic clunk startled me back to reality. “Want to what, sugar?”

First kiss from Never Dare A Cowboy by Sylvie Kaye

When Colorado rancher J.T. Cutter meets up with Easterner Amanda Martin, her sassy mouth dares him in more ways than one.

Their lips were less than a scant inch apart now. He could feel her breath, moist and warm, on his lips. He wanted to taste that mouth.

One taste didn’t exactly constitute an affair. With her it could. The ache in his loins told him so.

His lips hovered over hers, close enough to taste the yeasty flavor of the beer she’d sipped.

The music ended, and the decision was no longer his.

Or was it?

He lowered his mouth, touching her lips, softly, gently with his - lightly, testing the waters.

She swayed into him, pressing closer.

The woman was loaded with curves, and every one of them was pressed temptingly against him. Her arm on his shoulder tightened its hold, and her fingers grabbed at his hair, pulling him nearer. Her lips opened beneath his, and he flicked his tongue inside of her mouth, sliding along her lower lip for a taste. One taste couldn’t hurt.

But it did hurt - his whole body ached for wanting her.
