Author Interview: Jo Anne Myers

EQ Welcomes Jo Anne Myers

EQ: Welcome to EQ! Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Jo Anne: I have been a long-time resident of southeastern Ohio, and worked in the blue-collar industry most of my life. Besides having several novels under my belt, I canvas paint.

When not busy with hobbies or working outside the home, I spend time with relatives, my dog Jasmine and volunteer my time within the community. I am a member of the International Women’s Writing Guild, Savvy Authors, Coffee Time Romance, Paranormal Romance Guild, True Romance Studios, National Writers Association, the Hocking Hill's Arts and Craftsmen Association, The Hocking County Historical Society and Museum, and the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center. I believe in family values and following your dreams. My original canvas paintings, can be found at: http://www.booksandpaintingsbyjoanne.com

EQ: Tell us a little bit about your most recent release.

Jo Anne: That would be my biography true crime “Twisted Love”.  It is a collection of true cases from Ohio and surrounding states.

EQ: What was your defining moment as a writer?

Jo Anne: When Melange Books published my first book, “Murder Most Foul,” a detective/mystery.  When I had almost gave up on finding a publisher, and was considering going the self-publishing way, Melange contacted me. I was thrilled.

EQ: What made you want to become a writer?

Jo Anne: I have always enjoyed art, and been able to write.  Even as a child I had a flare for words, and enjoyed putting them to paper.

EQ: Which of your characters do you connect with the most and why?

Jo Anne: That would be Autumn Williams, in “The End of Autumn,” because she is from my hometown of Logan, Ohio, and her kidnapping and murder devastated the entire community. It really cut close to home.  So many of us knew the families.

Read these titles by JoAnne Myers:

Flagitious- an upcoming detective/mystery anthology due out August
Loves, Myths, and Monsters- a fantasy anthology starring the Mothman, the Chupracabra, a love curse, mermaids, time travel, reincarnation, a demonic cellmate, a Quaker love story, werewolves, and a serial killer family from 1873.
Murder Most Foul- a stand alone detective/mystery
Wicked Intentions- a paranormal anthology
The Crime of the Century- a biography true crime
Poems About Life, Love, and Everything in Between- a poem collection
Twisted Love- a biography true crime anthology

I also think it is important for aspiring authors to never give up on their writings. If you truly want to see your story in print, than keep trying. No matter how hard it may seem to be, don’t give up.  Take a break from the book, when things become overwhelming. I wrote and rewrote The Crime of the Century for 10 years, before I was satisfied with the ending result. That is a long time, but I never regretted it. It was an important story that devastated the nation, destroyed lives, but needed told.
