From THE SHERIFF'S SON, re-releasing tomorrow:

Half of her wanted to scream at Tanner to let her son go; the other half wanted to behave like a calm, rational human being who understood the importance of law and order.

Well, she’d never been rational around Tanner before.

“Put him down this instant.”

He laughed. “C’mon, Sarah, I outgrew that tone in grade school with Mrs. G.” He lifted an eyebrow. “Don’t you think you ought to hear what happened first?”

“No. First, I think you ought to unhand my son.” Her voice wobbled. She took a deep breath. She had to be strong for Kevin. They had no one else but each other. “Let him go, then we’ll talk.”

To her relief, Tanner shrugged and released his hold on the T-shirt. Kevin’s heels dropped to the floor.

“Mom!” He rushed across the room to wrap his arms around her waist and bury his face against her.

From HEARTBREAKER'S BET:

Bet put a hand on her chest, over her heart, not surprised at how hard it was pounding. "Can I confess something? When I saw you, I wanted to come over and say something flirtatious. But now I'm nervous and can't think of what to say."

"There's no need to be nervous, hon. I won't bite." Troy's slow smile was a wicked one. "Not right away."

She almost couldn't breathe for a moment. "So you'll let me finish my coffee first?"

"Of course." He sat forward again, resting his arms on the table. "But you might want to get some extra ice."

Extra ice? Why would they need extra—Oh! To soothe the bite marks.

Bet traced a finger over the back of Troy's hand, gazing up at him through her eyelashes. "I wouldn't want to cool things down too much."

It seemed like he shuddered slightly, but before she could decide what that meant, Troy laced his fingers with hers, their palms touching.

"Then we'll have to find a way to heat things up again."

His intent gaze made Bet wish they weren't wearing so many clothes. If they had more skin exposed, they would both be so much cooler. . .

For Pete's sake.

This was exactly why she needed lessons on flirting. Luckily she was being taught by someone who—unlike her—understood none of this was real.

Cupid's Curse - Otherworlder Book Two Releasing Today! Jan. 31st

Raine is a Magicless Fae who works as a P.I. for Otherworlders. Jordan is a weretiger who is next in line to lead his pack.

Raine reached for her pants. Jordan’s large warm arms wrapped around her waist and he turned her to face him.

“Hey.” His deep voice soothed her.

She held back the tears in an effort to keep from showing weakness. She never talked about her parents. Or her home plane. Or anything having to do with where she’d come from. Not even with Jordan.

He tilted her chin with his calloused finger and forced her to look into his deep green eyes.

“Are you okay?” His voice was gentle as a spring rain.

“Yeah, I’m great. My parents who haven’t spoken to me in over four years just sent me a letter demanding that I help a stupid sprite with some problem probably involving the fact that her bubbles are the wrong color in her washing machine.”

Jordan’s chuckle purred in his chest and rumbled through her like a bass drum.

“I didn’t know sprites had washing machines.”

She pushed away from him. “You know what I mean.” She was in no mood to be chided.

He pulled her back into a tight embrace. “Come on darlin’. It’s going to be okay.”

His warmth smothered her but the connection was exactly what she needed. Over the last month things had been weird with Jordan. He’d been busier than usual with work and his pack and his dad. She didn’t want to believe that his sudden distance had anything to do with her and in moments like these, when he held her tight, she almost believed that she wasn’t at fault.

His hard body sent a thrill through her. Sex with Jordan was intense and wild and she could never get enough. She clung to him, her nails digging into his back.

“Hey now,” he said. “You know scratching gets me all fired up.” He nuzzled her neck trailing his warm lips down to her collarbone.

Goosebumps rose all over her body and she shied away from him and giggled.

“Did you just giggle?” he asked.

“No.” She feigned horror. “I never giggle.”

“Oh really?” He bent down and licked up the line of her throat up to her ear.

Her breath caught and she tried to form thoughts that didn’t involve Jordan being naked.

He nibbled around the side of her ear and up to the pointed sensitive tip. Her legs weakened and warmth pooled between her thighs.

“I love your ears.” He flicked his tongue into the inner rim. “They’re so much like a tiger’s.”

Shockwaves of pleasure shot through her. She grabbed the back of his head and pulled his hair. When his eyes met hers they were the fiery orange glow of his tiger.

His smile broadened. “Don’t do that if you don’t want to play. You know I like it rough darlin’.”

Come to Me: A Love in a Bottle Short Story - release day Feb 3, 2016

Cassandra slammed on the brakes. The Rabbit’s tires skittered on the gravel before bouncing against the cement bumper. The shift stick put up a struggle, but she finally managed to shove the handle into first gear. As the rumble of the engine died, silence filled the early-afternoon air.

She really needed to take her car to a mechanic, but who had time? As long as the Volkswagen still ran, well, that was a blessing. The good news—the parking lot was almost empty. The bad news—Adam Harkness caught the whole episode. Heat rose to her cheeks.

He leaned against his red F-250 truck. With his arms crossed over his chest, his denim coat fit snug over his wide shoulders. Even under the thickness of the material, the definition of his firm biceps molded to the fabric. Tight jeans hugged his hips and ended in a pair of Keen hiking boots. He covered his mouth, but couldn’t quite hide the grin that radiated from his piercing green eyes. Catching her gaze, he raised his hand. With a graceful move, he smoothed his shoulder-length brown hair away from his face. Shoot. No one had the right to look that good.

Deadly Alliance, hot romantic suspense, release date February 2nd. Here's a snippet:

She braced against the dresser. “I’m seconds away from begging.”
He reached through her thighs, just brushing her mound, and she arched in response. He used his fingers to stroke her lips, parted them, and spread her wetness over them. Using control, he was slow to enter. Buried in her sweetness, he thrust into her like a piston.
She turned her head. “Finn,” she whispered. “Finn.”
He pulled her skirt-covered hips into his, riding her and loving the way she let herself go. “I can’t get enough of you.”
She came with a loud moan, and he released into her. As she came down, she laughed. He pulled out of her but wrapped his arms around her and didn’t let go for a long time. He kissed the back of her neck. “We belong to each other tonight.”
She turned, and the look of ecstasy on her face turned him on more than he ever thought possible. He needed to taste her.
He knelt, and with his fingers, he spread her pussy wide and touched the tip of his tongue to her clit.
Her body shook, and her hands were in his hair as she pulled him close.

A snippet from The Penhallow Train Incident, a romantic suspense/murder mystery coming March 30 from the Wild Rose Press:
We Meet Griffin ~
“Say, Rachel, weren’t you taking tickets for the excursion on Saturday? You must have seen the victim. What did he look like?”
Before Rachel could answer, they heard an angry growl from the bar. “God damn it, can’t a man eat his lunch in peace? God damn ghouls around here.” Griffin scratched his stubbly chin and pointed a fretful finger at the women. “You’d think no one had ever been killed before, the way you people go on and on.”
Rachel, enchanted by the way his eyes shimmered in the sunlight, didn’t respond. Maude snapped, “Professor Tate, just because you’re an old roué doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a little mystery. Not much happens in Penhallow after all. We’re entitled to some excitement.”
Griffin bristled at her. “A man is dead, Maude. This isn’t a movie.”
“Well,” she bristled back, “At least he was from away.”
Griffin gave her a long, hard look and, before turning back to his plate, muttered, “Like me.”
For some reason his words struck hard at Rachel’s heart. She couldn’t see his face, and knew it wouldn’t show the hurt anyway, but she could feel it from across the room. To a Mainer, anyone who couldn’t trace his Maine lineage back to at least the French and Indian War was considered “from away.” Locals usually felt no more than amiable indulgence for the odd critters, but now and then the native prejudice came out. “Maude—that wasn’t nice. After all, I’m from away too.”

Good morning! I'd like to share a snippet from my new romantic suspense release HOMETOWN HEARTACHE, which is just 99¢ for the next couple of days, so get it while it's hot!

When the truck finally came to a stop, and the door of the cab opened, a cowboy hat appeared on someone about my size and I whooped with glee, pounding down the stairs and out the back door, slamming the screen door as I hollered over my shoulder, “They have a boy! They have a boy!”

My mom called after me as she iced a chocolate cake. “Nash Steven Nabry, you get back here this instant. The last thing they need is you underfoot.”

But I ignored her, running pell-mell to the truck, kicking up rock behind me. Even now I can recall the scratch of my tennis shoes as I made a sliding stop in front of her, scattering gravel left and right, and the way the rock dust filled my throat and nostrils as much as my indignation. “You’re a girl,” I spat.

“Nash!” my mother’s appalled voice yelled from several yards behind me. I still don’t understand how she could always hear every impolite word I spoke, yet not hear me when I called up the stairs asking her where the cereal was. Then Chloe’s father came around the back end of the truck, and the grownups introduced themselves while I stared at Chloe and Chloe stared at me like this was a showdown at the O.K. Corral, which was fitting considering her outfit. Looking back, my mind automatically added the dramatic, high-pitched, whistling notes from the theme song to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, a Clint Eastwood movie my brother, Ed, liked to watch. Chloe rubbed a fist in her eye, which probably was irritated by the chalky, drifting dust I raised from the gravel, squinting the other eye in the bright sunshine as she glared at me.

Snippet of my novel The Sun King which releases this Thursday, February 4th.

I was prepared and properly schooled in my duty. Mother left nothing to chance, saving that particular part of my education for her lectures. Every secret detail of a mistress’ obligation—all that could and must be done in the effort to please a nobleman—explained. At the age of twelve, when mother first sat me down for a discussion on intimacy, all of it seemed ridiculously comical and quite scary. As the years passed, I would look at some men and those thoughts proved inviting, while the leering gaze of others repulsed me even further. When the king looked at me, I felt a stirring within that caused a fire deep inside.

The clock in my room struck midnight and I sighed, a bit relieved and disappointed. No news or requests had come my way in the last two hours.

I will not be needed. I must not have pleased him. That is why he did not ask for me. I did something wrong. I’ll more than likely be escorted back home tomorrow morning.

I looked around the room and took it all in wistfully. These treasures would not be mine for much longer.

I sat at my vanity, staring into the mirror. My fingers searched and pulled out a multitude of hair pins. Only a few remained, barely holding my mane in place. I then started on the slow removal of the jewelry I had been allowed to wear. The pearls rolled between my fingertips before I placed them on the table. The smoothest texture overlaid such a hard interior.

Give nothing of myself except the shell.

I don’t know how long I held them before I heard the voice behind me.

“They don’t compare to your beauty. I am sorry.”

THE MAVERICK MEETS HIS MATCH

Here's a sneak peek...

Mandy Prescott misstepped on the tan carpet of the law office’s hallway almost causing her to stumble. Ty Martin stood in the conference room doorway, looking like he’d strode out of an Old West wanted poster, given his six-foot height, the stubble shadowing his firm jaw, and the black suit jacket outlining his broad shoulders. Dark eyes peered at her from under the brim of a Stetson pulled low enough for the back of his ebony-colored hair to feather the crisp white collar of his shirt. Neater than an outlaw, maybe, but no less threatening.
“I didn’t know Ty would be here, did you, Mandy?” her mother whispered, leaning closer as they walked and bringing a whiff of Chanel No. 5 with her movement.
Her heart pounded hard against her ribs, like it wanted out.
“No.”
Brian Solomon, the family attorney, had said only the main beneficiaries of her grandfather’s will would be in attendance. To her that had meant family. But there was Ty, leaning against the doorjamb with arms crossed and an annoying smile gracing a face she’d once found attractive.
Devils were always tempting.

A snippet of jealousy and desire from
Hatchling's Mate
which releases February 2nd.

Haldric looked at the people crowded into the big hall. He wondered how anyone could hear the music above the conversations. Trumpet flourishes rang out to be overridden by the swish of cloth as people moved to open an aisle down the middle of the room. Someone behind the door announced the reason for the evening. “Lords and ladies, distinguished guests, leading the First Dance, may I present the newest dragon lord Lady Lexii Beylnea, escorted by Talann of Cloud Eyrie, son of Lady Anastasia Jessian and Lord Branin Llewlyn of Cloud Eyrie. And joining them as lead pair, Lady Beitidh of Gorseth, escorted by Kynan of Cloud Eyrie, son of Lady Morille and Master Eoin of Clan Miller.”

Stretching to see above the heads of those around him, Haldric caught a glimpse of Lexii being escorted to the center of the dance floor. An instant hatred for the tall man whose arm was around her, and a strong desire to tear him down and humble him swept over Haldric.

I will have that one on his knees before me if I have to use the Parant to do so.

His gaze shifted to the blond-haired man who walked a half-pace behind Lexii. The male half of the second First Dance pair had a young woman identified as the daughter of the town elder on his arm. He noted the way the other man looked at Lexii and marked him as competition. The earlier jealousy was nothing compared to what now surged through Haldric. That one will feel my blade.

From my upcoming book, FINDER'S KEEPERS (think Romancing the Stone, with a young archaeology student as the heroine):

“They’re headed to Mallorca!” Jane couldn’t help herself; the words just poured out. “They’re going to wait there until I show up and try to trade, the pottery for the artifacts!”

She knew she’d said too much. Alex’s eyes lit up, just for an instant, when she mentioned Mallorca. That was something, obviously, he hadn’t known. But he caught himself almost immediately, and so did she. She wondered if he knew that she knew he was putting on an act. She wondered if he knew that she knew that he knew she was, too. And she wondered if she had any aspirin in her purse, because that train of thought was giving her a headache.

CAPTIVE HEARTS - Hearts series Book 2
Ruby’s back hit the mat, and a gush of air burst free from her lungs.
“You’ve gone soft.” Tommy frowned down at her, his lips twisted. “Seven months of no training, just pining away, and I knock you down in seconds. You’re off your game.”
That’s not all she was off. Her fiancé Paul had recently played her. Things like that happened to other people, not her. So, hell yeah, she was off her game.
“I’m not pining.” Even if she had sat on the couch with ice cream or a store bought bag of cotton candy most nights. Sometimes both. It was none of Tommy’s business.
“Let’s try that again.” Tommy held out a hand to her.
Why had she agreed to this again? Oh right, to get her mind on a different focus other than Paul. She could beat Tommy if she concentrated. Plastering a pained expression on her face, she accepted his hand. When he relaxed his guard to help her up, she jerked his arm forward and kicked him in the shin. But her timing was off, and his upper body landed on top of her instead of beside her. His hands slammed on either side of her head as he caught himself.
Instead of scowling at her, like he usually did, something flashed in his eyes. Admiration? Pity? No, couldn’t be. His breath of vanilla and mint washed over her, and she couldn’t stop staring at his mouth. Had it always been full with a dimple on the side of his cheek when he smiled?
“Guess I took you by surprise that time.” She forced her gaze from his mouth to stare into his gold-flecked brown eyes. “Maybe you need to up your game?”
