It's First Kiss Wednesday!
Kisses are the mainstay of romance writing. No matter how sweet or spicy our stories are, they usually involve at least a kiss or two. And the first kiss is especially lovely - that first, soft touch of lips - or perhaps the kiss is fierce and hungry. Maybe the characters murmur words of love or words of teasing while discovering the texture and taste of each other. Maybe the only sounds they can emit are gentle, timorous moans or deep, throaty groans.
Okay, now that we've set the premise, here's what you can do for First Kiss Wednesdays. In the comment box, give us a maximum of 300 words of the first kiss of a published work or a work-in-progress and one link to your website or blog or Amazon Author Page.

This is the first kiss from A TWIST OF FATE, a contemporary romance where an ultra-city girl is forced to spend the night with a country hunk who lives a very simple life on the farm. In this scene they are taking a bath together.
The rough cloth abraded her flesh, but the large hands caressing her were like balm. He extended her arm and washed it with great concentration, his lips close to her ear. His breathing came faster as his palm caressed her breast.
Mel was both relaxed and energized as never before. He kissed the top of her ear and the side of her neck. She turned to seek his mouth, stopping short when she caught the intensity of his gaze. His hunger was palpable, igniting her with the power of his longing.
He caressed her cheek with his fingers and lowered his mouth, his lips soft against hers. Hesitant at first and then bolder as his tongue danced with hers.
A sound escaped her throat, something between a moan and a whimper.
“Melanie?” His voice broke, turning the sound of her name into a plea.
“Yes,” she whispered. Pulling away, she rose, water streaming back into the tub.
Helmut remained seated, staring up at her.
“The bath is over.” She held out her arms to him.

She sighed and opened her eyes.
He didn’t waste any time. Through eyes barely open, he watched her lashes close, watched her lips part. He kissed her softly. With light touches and delicate sips, he tasted the sweet stickiness of the apple on her lips.
She didn’t respond. It wasn’t a rejection. It just wasn’t a response.
He braced his hands on either side of her shoulders, holding himself off her breasts so the only place their bodies met was their lips. It took all his control to go slowly.
At first she didn’t touch him. Then at the same time she began to kiss him back, she placed her palms on his chest, their warmth and pressure highly arousing. She slid her arms around him and slowly pulled him down on top of her.
Yes.
He took that for permission and rolled to his back, taking her, draping her over his body. He wrapped his arms around her, one hand cupping her head lightly, giving her the opportunity to break away if she didn’t like it. She stayed, and he deepened his kiss. His tongue explored her mouth, claiming her, delving into her welcoming and passionate response.
Her moans rose sweetly from her throat, then became deep growling noises. Her hands cupped his face, held him. She massaged his tongue with hers.
He rolled again putting her beneath him and slid his thigh between hers.
Her body quivered, her hips undulated, pressing upward against his.

An Imperfect Match (Dare to Dream 2) RELEASE DAY!!!
She wanted this, needed this, more than anything, and the words slipped past her lips.
“Please, Zach. Please…now.”
Her desperate plea set him free and a look of intense relief flashed in his eyes just before he lowered his mouth to hers.
Finally! Her lips parted instantly to let his tongue slip inside. Maybe she could learn to like the taste of beer after all, she thought as his tongue swirled hungrily around the inside of her mouth. Her hands came to rest against his chest, the thin material of his white T-shirt creating a barrier between her palms and the hot, hard muscles that she longed to explore. She sighed with frustration and ran her hands up over his chest and around to the back of his head, her fingers
tunneling under his thick, long hair.
Zach growled low in his throat, deepening the kiss as he extricated his hands from her tightly coiled curls and smoothed them down her back until they came to rest just above the curve of her butt.
Claire moaned into his mouth and lifted herself toward him, trying to get as close to him as she could get. Desire pounded at her core and she was becoming lightheaded, the need to continue to enjoy his delicious mouth battling with her need to take in air.
As she lifted toward him, Zach’s hands slid lower and cupped her bottom, lifting her off the seat and pulling her against him. Claire instantly wrapped her legs around his waist and her hands left his hair so that she could grip his shoulders tightly.
He broke the kiss finally, breathing heavily as he whispered, “Hold on tight!”

Here's my heroine's memory of her first-ever kiss, back in high school. Needless to say, it's memorable, but for all the wrong reasons...
“Hey, Belle, why don’t you put out some food?” She’s told me she hates being called Belle, but she’s not going to get her older brother to stop doing it anytime soon. I go to help Belinda set out several bowls of chips, and then she goes up to her room to change. That’s all I need – not only will I not know anybody, but I’m going to look like crap compared to everyone else. I thought my sweater was cute, but I’m sure Belinda will be back downstairs in five minutes with an outfit that puts me to shame.
And I can’t even borrow anything from her – she’s only a couple of inches taller than me, but she’s at least three sizes bigger. Oh, well. As I watch her go up the stairs, I see something hanging from the ceiling at the foot of the staircase. Mistletoe.
I start to wonder who hung it there when there’s a hand on my shoulder, and I turn to see Vince. He’s not much taller than Belinda, but he seems bigger somehow, or maybe that’s just my imagination. I can smell the beer on his breath; we’re only a few inches apart. He’s looking up at the mistletoe, too. He puts an arm around my waist and pulls me still closer. I let him; he is cute. And I’ve never had an older guy show the slightest interest in me before. Is this why he didn’t complain about Belinda inviting me? Does he have a – a thing for me?
He’s leaning in towards me, coming closer. I tilt my head up to meet him, I close my eyes, and I feel his face just an inch from mine, then his lips are touching mine, and – I – God! I go limp, I don’t respond, but I don’t have to; his lips and his tongue are doing all the work – then from out of nowhere there’s a voice. Belinda’s voice, loud and shrill: “Jesus, Sara! Get your tongue out of my brother’s mouth!” And then I feel her hands on my shoulders, pulling me away from Vince.

Setting the scene: Kisses can tease.
Meeting his eye, I silently mouthed, “Come to me.” He gave me an engaging wink over the top of her head. Instead of coming to me, the tease moistened his lips with his tongue and shook his head. Then taking Ellie’s hands, he bid her rise. He enfolded her in his arms, and wound the braid into his large hand. When he kissed her deeply, he also kissed my mind through her. And heaven help me, I felt it keenly.

This is from my upcoming release (working edits soon, so this is still "unedited") Excerpt of "A Masterpiece Of Our Love"
LIttle intro- The heroine, Becca has TBI (Traumatic brain injury) from a plane crash as a child. When she goes through a rough time she's unable to vocally speak so she uses sign language to communicate. She and Hunter have just had a pretty intense day. So there's the intro. And now, the excerpt:
At her sniffle, Hunter tipped her chin up. “You are crying! Aw Bec, why the tears?”
“I think my emotions are going haywire. I'm tired, so I'm a little more weepy. I'm so glad you're back this year.” When she finished signing, his lips curled up in a smile.
“ So am I.” He whispered softly. Something in his eyes resembling longing tugged at her. His hands were still touching her face. He inched closer and parted his lips. Without thinking, Becca reacted. They met midway, his lips crashing over hers. Her thoughts ran a million miles a minute. Did he start this? Or did she? Why? What were they doing? Why? She'd never thought of kissing Hunter before. It must have just been the day, the fact that they felt so close to each other.
It didn't matter.
His kisses were passionate. So tender. Loving. Inquiring. He drew her closer. A sound escaped his lips, but he didn't stop. Her heartbeat sped up. She placed a hand on Hunter's shoulder, then slid it around his neck, running her fingers through his hair. She opened her eyes for a brief second and devoured the sight of Hunter. Then she closed them again, leaning into him. His tongue toyed with her, teasing playfully.
Another loud crack of thunder startled them both. Like kids being caught doing something they shouldn't, Hunter and Becca pulled apart.
She let out a breath and covered her chest with her hand. She blinked. Hunter stared intently at her.
“I have no idea what came over me. Please know I never meant for that to happen. I don't want you to think-”
Here’s the *first kiss* between Kalypso and Zryphus in MURDER BY HAIR SPRAY IN GARDENIA, NEW ATLANTIS, my 2051 futuristic that takes place on the risen land of Atlantis.
Kalypso is the Sheriff of New Atlantis and Zryphus is an OtherWorlder, who works as a Fed Agent, the old USA.
The 13th murder victim of the Hair Spray Killer occurs in New Atlantis, where murder is rare. Zryphus has been the lead investigator on the case. To prevent the serial killer’s next murder, Kalypso and Zryphus come to a professional understanding about tracking him down.
Zryphus has come to his own understanding. He’s finally found the woman he wants as his wife.
Kalypso has sworn off all men. And she means it.
~~~
Kalypso took her time as she moved toward the scowling, pondering and mountainous Fed Agent. “Know anything about a diary?” she whispered, keeping her eyes locked and loaded on his. “Neglect to tell me something?”
“I knew she claimed to have found a celebrity’s diary. Thought it might be her own ‘memoirs’. Or that it belonged to one of her lady-of-the-evening friends. You know, reveal all for enough cashola.”
“Cashola?”
“What’s in the diary?”
“You tell me. She had the handwriting analyzed.”
His gaze leapt, then darkened with surprise. “Missed that angle,” he admitted.
“Give me your ear, Agent.” Kalypso toyed with him,imitating a woman’s provocative promise.
Zryphus stared hard for a brief moment, then turned his ear toward her lips. “Jackie O’s diary. The real thing. Supposedly. Don’t look shocked,” she cautioned as he started to jerk his head around. “We want to keep this a secret. For as long as possible...don’t you think, Agent?”
Her nearness brutally tempted him. “Yeah, the smart move.”
Gods of Mating, she was cream and flame gorgeous. Feeling like a nova sun inside, Zryphus grabbed the back of his woman’s head. He whipped her down to him, her stunned face beneath his. His passion like lava, he arched her over his lap, her mouth beneath his mouth. He kissed her, plundering her warm perfect lips for a long time.
Completely dazed—the scene of Rhett Butler forcefully kissing Scarlett playing in her head—Kalypso didn’t move, even when his mouth released hers. Not at first. Then she whirled, angry as a full-blown tornado. Her fist aimed for his jaw. His hand shot up, halting her punch just before it landed.
Cupping her fist with his mitt-like hand, he held gently.
“Superior reflexes, Sheriff,” he softly growled. His darkened sapphire eyes gleamed with appreciation.
“Yeah...always had ‘em. Cad,” she evenly replied, her underlying tone deadly as a rattlesnake. Who cared if his kiss still sizzled her lips.
Drowning in the pure essence of her, consequences be damned. His head bent, lips brushing against the soft warmth of hers, his tongue played against the seam of her mouth demanding entrance.
She surrendered on a soft sigh, warm breath caressing his lips. Her body sank into his as she held on to his arms, all soft alluring curves fitting against his hard frame. He drank her in, lapping at the sweet taste of her filling his mouth. He sipped at the sweet ambrosia of her essence, his control barely tethered as he deepened the kiss.
“I love the way you laugh, the way you treat
animals—the way you treat me, even when I hurt you.
You’ve saved me and protected me. You’re the kind
and noble man I used to dream about. And that’s the
man I love, the man you don’t see when you look in
that mirror.”
“Tori,” he whispered. Two strides brought him
inches from her face. His hands gripped her shoulders,
his gaze intense and searching. The next moment his
mouth descended to touch hers.
The pressure was light and lasted for a moment
then lifted away. Though tension radiated from every
pore of his body, his gazed searched hers, asking
permission to continue.
That he would give her that breath of time caused
her heart to swell. How could she not love this man?
Her arms rose and wrapped around his neck as he slid
his hands down her arms and around her waist.
He kissed her again on her upper lip, on one corner
of her mouth, then the other.
Heat coiled inside her, urging her closer.
He pressed his mouth to hers, firmer this time as he
teased the seam of her lips.
With a sigh she closed her eyes and opened for
him, savoring the bitterness of coffee, the strength of
his tongue as it slid along the length of hers.
He devoured her as a starving man devoured a loaf
of bread.
Time ceased for this enchanted kiss that went on
and on in the kind of magical connection she’d dreamed
about when she was young and didn’t know what a kiss
was supposed to be. There was only Ryder, the heat of
his mouth, and the warmth of his breath against her
cheek.
Her right hand lingered at the nape of his neck, her
fingers toying with the ends of his hair. Her other hand
slid over the plane of his shoulder blade. She sagged
against him, longing to be closer.
His dark gaze lifts to mine. “You didn’t win me by chance. I chose you. The raffle was fixed.”
I chose you.
He looks and sounds so serious and honest, how can I not be completely convinced? His words echo inside my head as he grips both sides of my face and lowers his mouth to mine in slow motion. The thrill bubbles return to my bloodstream as if the elevator cable has just snapped, dropping us to the basement.
Unlike last night’s, this kiss is slow and full of promise. He samples my mouth as if we have all the time in the world. A flash of mint-flavored tongue pierces my soul, tearing a moan from my throat. With one hand still on the button, I raise my other to his shoulder. Feeling the bare, hot skin there fuels my desire, pushing me dangerously close to the edge of self-control.
“Do you want this as much as I do, Janice?”
God, yes. I need more…all of you.
I reply by sliding my hand across the tiger-striped fabric over his back. The warm satin, with muscles moving under it, is just as sexy as bare skin. His hips dance against mine—rubbing, thrusting and teasing. My fingers move to the worn waistband of his jeans at his side, wanting to pull them off.
Some very hot kisses! Here is my first kiss from my sci-fi romance, HOUSE OF THE CAT
Ten mins later, fully dressed, he strode to the bridge, but before he arrived, the woman halted him in his tracks. In shock, he stared at her. Attraction had simmered in him before, but now…now he saw her true magnificence. One of his crew, probably Kaya, had given her clean clothes and shoved her through the sanitizer. Her dark hair glowed with cleanliness, the color reminding him of a blackbird’s wing. Long and smooth it hung down to her shoulders in a dark wave. And her scent. It called him.
With two giant steps, Ry closed the space separating them. He stared down at the human woman, drawing her clean scent deep into his lungs. Unbidden, his hand moved to cup her cheek, and without another thought he dipped his head to press their lips together. Instantaneous reaction thrummed in his body. Fire lapped along his veins. The feline pulsed against his skin, fighting him for control.
Take her.
The words whispered through his mind. He drew her against his chest, holding her more securely and taking the kiss deeper. Ry nibbled at her bottom lip and when she opened her mouth in an O of surprise, he slipped his tongue inside. Sweet. So sweet. Need and desire pummeled him. He wanted more. Much more.
Here's the first kiss from Wolves' Pawn, a paranormal romance.
She stiffened as a shadow slipped by at the edge of the yard. “Did you see that?” she asked in a whisper.
“One of the sentries. We keep guards on duty all the time. Old precautions from when we had an active feud with another pack. We take turns and pair older members with younger members. Helps to keep the pack strong.”
“Oh.” Dot reached down and plucked a leaf from a bush at the edge of the steps and tore it in bits. “I am safe here, aren’t I? I don’t need to be watching over my shoulder all the time anymore?”
“Safe? I don’t know, the way I saw some of the guys eying you earlier today, I think there might be a big bad wolf or two after you.” He grinned, and she punched him in the arm. “Ow, that hurt!”
“Yeah, right. You want me to kiss it and make it better?”
A kiss sounded good. Really good. Without thinking about it, he leaned over and pressed his lips against hers. He meant to barely touch her lips, but a shockwave ran straight from his mouth to his chest and his heart stopped. He pulled back so he could look into her eyes, and was lost. With a soft growl, he wrapped one arm around her, pulled her close and kissed her again.
A need for air finally made him pull away. “All better now?” she asked. She didn’t push away from him, or try to get loose from his grasp.
“Not yet.” He shook his head. “I could use some more of that medicine.”
“Now who’s the big bad wolf?” she laughed. But she stopped laughing when he leaned in for another kiss.
