“Wow,” Jenna breathed, staring up at him.

“I am so smitten with you,” he admitted softly.

When he came close, he was enthralled by the warm vanilla fragrance infusing her hair. He lifted a hand to touch the cloud-soft mass. She stilled, then shivered as if waiting for him to make a move. He wrapped his fingers in the silky strands.

Secret Love by Christine Warner - a sweet, nostalgic romance set in small town America 1955:

Wayne could stare at her all night. The way her face lit up with her lopsided smile, and how her hands strayed to her hair when she grew nervous, entranced him. She didn’t even try to be beautiful—but she was.
How ironic that ten years ago she’d confessed her crush in such a matter-of-fact way, and now he turned into a tangled mass of nerves at the idea of voicing his crush on her.

“Where is the man who wanted to marry me?” Patience asked quietly. “The Gypsy who vowed to protect me from my unspeakable burdens?”

“He refuses to fight a battle he cannot win,” Luca said.

“Then he is not a true champion, nor defender of God, if he expects such an easy victory. The man I know welcomes a challenge. He is a legend.”

I glanced down at my hand and then back up at him and shook my head. My eyes continued to stare into the fathomless depths of his, I felt drawn, transfixed. Stepping forward, the knife dropped from my hand and clattered on the stone step. My fingers touched the roughness of his unshaven jawbone.

"Tonya's the school slut," said Jennifer.

He studied her for a minute, his look enigmatic. She returned his scrutiny, wondering how he'd received the scars. Despite their dangerous appearance, they didn't take away from the attractiveness of the man.

He fidgeted for a few seconds, and then suddenly blurted out, "Your son got my daughter pregnant."

I wasn’t thinking any of this when I pulled the knife out of the body on the ground. I was thinking something more along the lines of “Oh, bloody hell. Not vampires again.”

The Chevalier, a sensual historical romance set in the turbulent Georgian era.

"She hoped that he could not read her mind; she would truly die of shame if he had an inkling of how desperately she wished to caress his cheek with the tips of her fingers. And Mother of God, if only this virile man would crush her into his arms and kiss her—perhaps even make love to her! Where were such wild, outrageous thoughts coming from?"

Blaze had had the tattoo so long he'd forgotten it, but he became very aware of the fingers that brushed across it. Smooth and free of calluses, they weren't the fingers of a heavy laborer. The tantalizing sensation of Logan's touch accompanied a rush of pride. "Team Six."

"Wow. Heavy duty stuff."

"Yeah, heavy duty stuff."

"Good Lord, a real live SEAL. Can I touch you?"

He was teasing, of course, but Blaze responded, unable to keep the huskiness out of his voice, "You already have."

And I'd love it if you'd do it again, only somewhere else on my body. It would be nice below the belt, where it matters, he thought..

Logan squinted in the sunlight as he studied the tatt. "Whoever did this is a superb artist and an excellent tattooist. The wings of an eagle, an anchor, a trident and"--he smiled and looked into Blaze's eyes--"a pistol."

Blaze's wolf was dancing so hard in his chest he had to breathe in deep to get any words out. He was beginning to wonder if it wasn't his wolf nature but a problem with his heart anytime he connected with this man. He managed to explain the logo's meaning.

Rhys had been prepared for a cropped head of straggly hair but was surprised to discover that Teddy Gamble had an abundance of shining tawny locks which had been gathered in a braid and pinned beneath her hat. With some relief he concluded he’d been right to suspect that the woman had at least a tiny element of femininity to her.

I lived for a short time in an apartment that didn’t have enough drawers in the kitchen to allow me to have one for junk. I hated it, and it was one of the primary reasons I moved out. Well, and the fact that the upstairs neighbor’s hobby was clogging.
