Here's a snippet from my medieval novella A KNIGHT TO REMEMBER, the first story in the ENCHANTED BY AN EMERALD anthology (available in eBook and print). The heroine has just discovered the hero, lying naked and unconscious in the woods:

Aislinn walked down the length of his body to his feet, then up the other side of him. The man was a magnificent creature, his skin satiny and bronzed, his arms and legs bulging with muscle. A large, ugly bruise darkened his right hip, as well as his right forearm.

Viking Fire - historical romance with a touch of magic and on sale at Amazon-Kindle this month for $1.99

“I believe it’s improper for you to stare at a lady so.”

“Would you rather I stare at you on our wedding night?” She opened her mouth to speak, but he continued. “Whilst you are without clothes?”

From the opening paragraphs of Thin as Smoke, retro m/m romcom, just released:

Now, after getting to know the man and learning his deep fears and desires, Michael was far more solicitous of his friend’s feelings. In fact, he thought dryly, by now I’m becoming utterly trained, a falcon on the tall man’s wrist, still predatory, yet becoming more and more a taxidermist’s specimen.

A stuffed bird whose stiff beak may wither from neglect.

She tugged at his neck, pulling his head down toward her. Even a saint couldn’t resist her when that little tongue darted out, licking her lips in anticipation. And he was no saint.

This is a snippet from A SPELL IN PROVENCE, my contemporary romantic suspense published by Accent Press
He looked down. The light of the rising sun played on his face and made his green eyes seem deep and warm. Time slowed down. The noise from the crowd became muffled and distant, and all she could hear was the crystalline spring water trickling in the old fountain. The spring that ran through the forest between Manoir Coste and Bellefontaine and bound hearts and lives together, or so the spell said … Her heartbeat slowed, or maybe it stopped altogether.

An exchange between the Hero and Heroine in Under Fire when they first meet.

“What’s it going to take to get you to dance with me?”
She crooked her index finger and motioned him to come close. “A million in your bank account and seven inches in your pants.”
Without missing a beat he replied, “The million I have, but even for a woman as beautiful as you, I won’t cut off three inches.”

Here's one from SAMI's CHRISTMAS WISH LIST, a novella that's part of The GIrls of Thompson Lake box set, which includes 3 of my contemporary YA romances.

Travis leaned in and kissed me, slowly and gently, his lips warm and moist. I fell into the kiss, lost in the moment—the sheer bliss of being in Travis’s arms and knowing he was willing to give us another chance—willing to see the best in me. As my heart soared and happiness bubbled up inside, a new sense of peace washed over me. Maybe it wasn’t too late to choose a new path, and maybe forgiveness and second chances were still within reach.

You can read the first chapter on WATTPAD, or find me on Amazon’s Author Central page:

“Thank you, both. You’re sweet.”
Nick stood there, his thick brown hair shimmering with streaks of gold, his brown eyes twinkling with what she would swear was mischief.
He cocked an eyebrow, “I’m anything but sweet, Miss Markum.”

Over the years, she'd had to explain to hundreds of people that she couldn't hear. She had built up a thick skin, an armor that protected her against any reaction.
But today, with this man, for the first time in her life, she hadn't felt ready to hear a response--and she didn't want to think about what that meant.

From my novella, LORD RAKEHELL'S LOVE, a man who was late to his own wedding, and trying to win back his lady love:

"I have good reason to doubt the success of this plan," Simon admitted.

"You doubt me? After all I have done to earn the title Lord Wastrel?"

Simon cuffed his friend on the shoulder. "Perhaps I would have fewer doubts if you were named Lord Wedded Bliss."

He held up his hand to stop whatever Racine had been about to say. "I'd like you to stay here and give yourself a chance to heal. When you're better, if you still insist on leaving, I'll take you anywhere you want to go—Texas, California, back to Boston. I'll buy you a house and make sure you have enough money to live."
"And then what?"

Tis excerpt is from my romantic comedy, HOOKING MR. RIGHT, a story about two very stubborn people and the matchmaking cat who brings them together:

The man was as dense as concrete. “Not particularly. I prefer my men with egos slightly narrower than my doorframes.”

“Ouch.” He grimaced, but his expression was as phony as a three dollar bill. She could see it in the twinkling mirth of his baby blues. “I’m really not such a bad guy once you get to know me.”

“I wasn’t planning on getting to know you, Mr. Bennett.”

“Good! Have dinner with me, then.”

Zance's tone felt like a wicked caress on her skin. Sherilyn glanced over her shoulder, seeing both lust and admiration in his eyes.

“Why are you asking a sex therapist?” Burdick asked.
I scowled at him, trying not to move. “He's a psychiatrist. He knows how to talk to animals. He talks to you.”
“Oh, thanks. So you really did shoot me twice because you think I'm an animal?”
“If I wanted, I would have shot you three times. Once for every time you attempted to get into my pants, as an animal.”

Farewell to Kindness will be released on 1 April - in honour of the people who said I would never amount to much if I didn't get my head out of a book.

"That night, Anne dreamt of dancing with Lord Chirbury. In her dream, they didn’t walk decorously away after the wild excitement of the dance, to find her sisters and go tamely home. In her dream, the first vigorous dance led to another, even wilder, and part way through the second he swung her out into the shadows as she’d seen some of the village men do with their wives and sweethearts. In her dream, he’d caught her up into his arms and pressed his lips to hers."
