From WHISPERS AT MIDNIGHT, Gothic Historical Romance.

Wicklow had a style that drew threads of terror through the mind, the way it sprawled possessively over the hilltop and sometimes looked as if it would swallow up any who came near.

From "Her Last Resort", about 2 people in their 50s who thought their best days were behind them. As if...

The first time Ivan sees Stella, he's struck by how familiar she looks, and her effect on him. He can't speak.

"He cleared his throat, wondering if it had really been only a few seconds since he'd walked into the room, but unsure because the smile on her face seemed to be fading as she waited for him to speak again."

Lately I find myself going back to HEART TO HART, my first Gaslight Mystery whose 4th installment has just arrived. Here, the roustabout Michael has seduced his uptight new partner SImon, who's struggling to put his pants back on.

Michael turned with a studied slowness, and his bold eyes seemed to take those same trousers back off his arse.

From LOVING A COWBOY-The heroine just told him that though there once was something between them, what's left is just a physical attraction and, considering he's laid up with a broken leg he's in no shape to act on that attraction:

“Honey, a few things were broken, but take my word for it, that’s working just fine.”
