STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME

Trail had admired Seneca from afar, mainly at the Saturday night dances in town. Despite the raging bulge of his cock every time he did catch sight of her, he knew she was not a woman to give a man a one-night tumble, so he’d always respected her aloofness toward him.

Even now, his balls ached to give her a mounting she’d always remember.

From "A Question of Honor"

“You mean you think he’ll be dangerous just because he’s been bred? Was he that way before, or are you making assumptions based on general knowledge?” ...
“It’s the way stallions are, Sydney. During breeding season they can’t be trusted.”
“Male horses get cranky because they’re getting sex? Isn’t that contradictory?”

"You are as thoughtful and generous a man as I have ever known.”

This was evidenced in everything from the overflowing jewelry box, to the hundred-year-old furniture, to the silk velvet of the wall-hangings, to the Canton teaware on the silver tray on her coffee table, all of which would be left behind when she forsook him in no more than an hour. She had never been able to bring herself to steal from men she had already betrayed.

From: MORTAL ILLUSIONS - A vampire romance

She wasn't dead--yet.
Germaine took cold comfort from that reassurance as he strode swiftly past the occasional huddled pedestrian seeking shelter on Manhattan's sleepless streets--heedless of the instinctive, sometimes painful hunger that prowled his insides like a stalking beast. The beast was with him always, but tonight the man's need predominated.

STOLEN HEARTS - Romantic Suspense

She landed on the concrete with a thump, then removed her mask. Usually she worked at night when the catering gig didn't provide the necessary cover, but she had a date this evening.
A blind date.

Playing With Fire
by Nan O'Berry
"Sully, where are you?" she whispered.
Casting a worried glance at the sky, she watched the clouds roll and tumble, arching and swirling around one another as they smothered the last gasp of light. She clutched the strap of her purse as the hairs on the back of her neck rose. Thunder rumbled the ground beneath her feet as the sky turned a coke-bottle green and the air grew so heavy it was hard to breathe. In the distance, a sudden wail pierced the night.
"Tornado," the words tumbled from her lips, and she stared off in the distance, her eyes searching the sky as the wind began to rise.

That got my full attention as well. Yup, you usually don't find butchered men in Express station doorways.

Yeah, stealing from men you've already betrayed isn't a good business practice, in my mind. Great snippet, Mari.
