From the first Gaslight Mystery, HEART TO HART: The angry, closeted Simon Hart is taken aback to learn that his new flat-mate is not quite what he seems.
~
Simon could not believe this was the same Michael McCree whom he had seen, bare-chested and dressed in baggy trousers, sprawled across the bed this morning when he opened the roomer’s door. He was, in a word, magnificent.

His thick gold-red hair, now loosed from the bowler, framed his handsome, boyish face and made his golden eyes seem like coins in a treasure chest. The suit jacket, the shirt, the superbly cut trousers—all bespoke a gentleman who knew precisely how to dress.

“You’ve not explained yourself at all.” Simon knew his voice was cracking, but he was beyond caring. This interloper—this barger into a man’s office, this taker of a man’s dignity, even virginity—had to be removed from his life, starting right away. He’d pay him double the rent to leave.
~
It takes 4 novels (at least) for Michael to win Simon. The mysteries are here,, on Erin O’Quinn’s Amazon page:

HIS CLAIMED BRIDE,
Happy New Year on Another Earth

A Flash-Scene Erotic Romance Novel

*First seven sentences*

Sylva stroked on the red lipstick carefully. The shade was deep scarlet and it looked like a swathe of gleaming velvet on her lips. "Who needs collagen injections?" she murmured, then surveyed her festively made-up face. Dusky twilight purple shadowed her eyes, highlighting the blue-green color. A shimmer of pale gold brought out her high cheekbones – a magical contrast to the glistening pink-gold powder covering her face, her neck, and artfully ending at her propped-up cleavage – displayed by a heart-shaped tight bodice of midnight satin. "Mirror, mirror, on my bathroom wall, who's the New Years Party fairest of them all?"

~~~
Zeke flashed a cocky half-grin at his appearance in the mirror his mother had given him decades ago.
Bella's Betrothal Edinburgh 1826
From Chapter one:
Charles Lindsay released her mouth slowly, and she was fascinated by the clouding of his eyes as he opened them and stared into hers. Anger melted into the moment.
The peace, however, did not last long enough for any treaty negotiations to begin.
“Think on that, Lady Isabella,” he murmured, and his breath was hot against her cheeks. She slid down those long legs when he relaxed his grip and her legs struggled to hold her weight. “Are you willing to let Graham Direlton kiss you like that?”
“I would never permit...”
“I did not ask your permission.” The words were delivered with staccato emphasis. “You were not able to reach the fire irons, my dear.”
From The Bear Goddess:
She lay back down, unsure how to handle Pan. Accusing a god without any proof would only serve to anger Artemis and the other gods. To establish his guilt, she would have to reveal her secret. And if he knew she was aware of what he had done to her, he could be a dangerous adversary. She had to use caution.
With a flutter of wings, Maggie settled back on her perch. Her stygian-black eyes glimmered in the celestial glow.
In the quiet, moonlit night, the edges of darkness embraced Callisto with a foreboding chill. Yes, caution indeed.
“I’ve not only taught you everything I know, but I’ve arranged for the best teachers to train you.”
“I’m grateful for all that, but sometimes I think you’re just keeping me occupied so that I’ll forget about actively joining your cause.”
“To be of help, you must be disciplined. Tonight you clearly displayed that you can’t follow orders. Nor can William and James. Their punishment is up to Daria and Giacomo. Yours falls to me.”
No wonder nearly every clerk at Wellingham Imports was married! A woman awaited his arrival at home. A woman who enjoyed his company by a fire, his kisses by candlelight, and his caresses in the dark. One who enjoyed the feel of his touch on her bare skin, of his lips on hers, of his tongue as it explored
her mouth and plundered every inch of her body, including the swollen nub at the base of her thighs, flicking and tasting and teasing until she came apart into a billion tiny pieces of pure pleasure.
William sighed as he closed his eyes and imagined doing such things to Lily Harkins. Bringing her to ecstasy seemed so easy to achieve, so desirable, so ...
Necessary.
William blinked.
First Chapter Death of an Island Tart by Janice Croom
Clothes may make the man, but they change the woman. I’m a thirty-something African-American with junk in my trunk and a chest that women go under the knife for; I always dress to downplay that. I want folks judging me for my mind, not my body.
In this stuff, every time I stood, my chest ended up in some man’s face. And when I walked, my butt swished like a Whirlpool on agitate.
From Royal Regard (currently on sale at 99c):
Bella growled, “Just because you entertain lewd fantasies of the Duke of Wellbridge does not mean I do.” She sat suddenly on the low stool she had been occupying before his interruption and spat out between gritted teeth, “You are perfectly free to follow him out onto the street and beg his favors.”
Charlotte smiled slyly, “Oh, it is you he wants to follow along, not me, and I do hope he leads you a merry chase.” Charlotte took her seat delicately, straightening her skirt, organizing the small pile of fabric she would be purchasing, setting aside the bolts and spools she had decided against.
“That is ridiculous,” Bella snapped, once it was clear Charlotte would hold her tongue indefinitely. “Look at him! A man like that cannot possibly be interested in me.”
This is from Sympathy Dance that is a short but sweet read for .99c.
He stared at her pretty pout wanting to kiss it away. He cleared his throat. “I just realized how much I missed you.”
“If I recall it right you always told me I was a pest”
“I was wrong.” She used to annoy him with her wild antics to get his attention. Yet since she had returned home, she hadn’t paid him much mind.
From A Baron for Becky, released Wednesday next week.
Before she had finished, Aldridge was calculating his next move. The pistol was next to useless. Good enough to execute the child, but against at least four men, maybe more?
“I don’t suppose you have a sword or another gun in that seat of yours?”
She shook her head.
It would have to be his tongue, then. Well, many a woman had called it his finest weapon.
“Help me drop your bundles out into the garden,” he ordered. “I have a plan.”
