From my recently released novella ‘Strokes on a Canvas’ - a historical gay romance:

Evan peered into the cabinet to peruse its neatly ordered contents. He liked to wander the British Museum on his half-day off work, and he often ended up in the Greek gallery. Today he lingered over a large amphora labelled Athens 300 BC. It was a favourite piece of his, the aesthetic appeal of the ebony athletes leaping and running around its curves enhanced by their being exclusively male and almost entirely naked. Ogling an antique piece of ceramic was the closest Evan had come to physical congress in weeks, but after last night’s narrow escape, he guessed that might not be such a bad thing.

The stasis pod Pietas hid behind rested on the floor, and came up to mid-thigh. It hid him, but allowed no view of the door. A sudden change of light told him soldiers had entered. Grunts, they wore beams on their chests to light their way. The idiots had left them on, which let him calculate the level of brightness. At least six.
That was all he warranted? He hardly knew whether to be amused, or insulted.

From my brand new Courting the Countess, Endeavour
Borders, Northumberland, 1819

Melissa stood as still as her injuries allowed. Soapy water drained down her skin into the tin bath making her shiver in the night air. A tiny breeze riffled through the steam and made her wonder if the bedroom door had opened?
‘Allow me, ma’am. Your maid is unable to come to your assistance.’

CURSE OF THE EXILE: A Victorian Scottish Gothic Romance

“Do not scream.”
I nodded to show my understanding of his terse order and Myles slowly removed his hand from my mouth. In the dimness of the library, where the drapes were mostly drawn to protect the bindings and no light was lit, he was little more than a shadow, a very strong shadow in a greatcoat, a shadow whose fingers dug painfully into my flesh. Although he had released my mouth, he still held my person prisoner, clasping me uncomfortably tight against him. The posture was disturbingly reminiscent of our innocently passionate embraces, when I had been such a fool as to permit a kiss and thereby convince him however wrongly of my availability.

Chapter 2
Erin floated in darkness. Where was she? What was happening? Why did she feel like she would throw up if she tried to move?
Something was tugging at her waist. Hands? A vague thought floated through her consciousness—don’t move an accident victim. She tried to speak, though she wasn’t sure what she wanted to say. Call 911? Help? Maybe the hands were help. Somebody was there, anyway. She wasn’t alone.

BELOVED ENEMY - SF Romance

First Lines of Chapter Two

For a man who was unconscious only a few seconds before, he had a surprisingly firm grip.
His eyes flicked open. They were the most unusual shade of blue she’d ever seen, reminiscent of the cerulean tones of glacial strata and about as chilly. No holographic image could ever accurately convey that colour. They widened, and in their depths, Cat saw what she could only translate as complete shock and disbelief, coupled with what seemed like a flicker of
recognition. But he couldn’t have recognized her. They’d never met before.

WAITING FOR A FILLY GIRL ~ A ShapeShifter Seduction Erotic Romance Novel

Chapter One:
Love Will Find You

"You will regret this punishment. I am innocent." Keina tilted her chin in defiance, even as she obediently walked toward the King's travel portal, a gateway to several dimensions.

"Let us hope when you return, Keina, love will find you. It is past time you were happily mated." The King's sonorous, all-knowing voice rang through the castle chamber.

How dare he!

Her General in Gray, coming soon from The Wild Rose Press:

“You are not there.” Autumn dropped her book and leapt to her feet, shaking her fist at the apparition standing beside the sculpted white fireplace.

The dancing flames shone through the whatever-he-was lounging by the hearth, his arm stretched along the mantel. A ceramic clock beside his hand chimed the witching hour—seven golden notes. Tall candles in brass candlesticks flickered, their fiery dance eerie. He appeared to be a Civil War soldier of the South, his opaque uniform gray with a nasty red-stained hole near the heart.
