Caught in the Spin
Romantic suspense by Sharleen Scott

Tom listened to the music and glanced at the woman next to him. He wasn’t sure what to do about Tallie Peters. She wasn’t the kind of woman he’d been involved with in recent years. She wasn’t someone he could get caught up in for a while and brush off when it got complicated. There was an innocence about her that scared him. Too bad he couldn’t stop looking at her.

“I’m not interested in seducing you, Rosalind.”
She offered him one tight nod, face turned away. “That’s been obvious for a while now.”
“You’re misunderstanding me, again. I’m not interested in seducing you, but I’ve wanted to make love to you damned near since the first time you stood up, and I looked into your eyes. I’ve wanted the right to touch your skin and find out if it’s even softer under your shirt.”

THE GOSSIP OF AN EARL by Linda Rae Sande

“I have no intention of leaving you alone tonight.”

Pulled from her reverie by the odd statement, Jane stared at Andrew. “Oh?” was all she could think to say.
Andrew allowed a chuckle. “I do hope I haven’t scandalized you, my sweeting.”

My sweeting.

Goodness, they had just become reacquainted after eighteen years, and he was already using an endearment only suitable for couples who were ...

Lovers.

Shana stood with her empty glass in hand. Dane reached out and grabbed her hand and yanked her with him across the short expanse of grass to the pier.
“What are you doing? You planning to throw me in?” She stumbled along, not exactly resisting, not going easy either.
“Don’t tempt me. I just want to put my feet in the water and cool off and—” He stopped. He didn’t know what. He wanted to talk? Not really. He wanted her to talk, to tell him what was wrong—-to tell him she was his for as long as he wanted with no strings?
Not damn likely. Her arm was hot and slick with sweat where he’d grabbed her. Her skin felt like it did after a bout of lovemaking. It had been too long. He’d thought that might change now. So far he was wrong.
