A RANCHER'S DREAM
by E. Ayers

“And what is this that I’ve found? Have you been stealing from me, or were you paid to destroy me and everything I’ve tried to do?” He raised his eyebrows. “Is it blood money?”
She didn’t flinch.
“Get out now! Before I do something that I might regret.”

My Seven:
In what could only be called compressed time, in our unanticipated courtship, we’d been together for less than a week. She drew me in with her outrageous plan to stop a crime against one of humanity’s treasures. A week ago, I saw marriage as a thing of duty — some far-distant future with a brood-hen of a wife, from whom I’d have to hide my true nature. Then this little tempest came blowing into my home to propose marriage, and for the life of me I don’t know how it was that I agreed. In short order she charmed me. That same charm captivated both Mrs. Fletcher and Grannie. And on top of that, Ellie turned my world upside down and made me question my awareness of my own self.

Pete Sebastian, Coach:
He picked up speed, breathing hard, pushing his body. She was in his blood, and no amount of running would get her out. He was infected with her, like a virus that would have to play through all the way. No antidote, no cure, existed. Falling for Jo Parker put him in limbo, sailing on uncharted seas, giddy, excited, scared silly, but, like a roller coaster, he was forced to ride it through to the end.

From the newly released box set- Crashing Into Love
Lori gagged on the bile rising in the back of her throat. She inhaled sharply to calm her stomach. If I'm going to die, it's not going to be with vomit all over my uniform.
A distant whimper caught her ear. She lifted her head and opened her eyes. The lady in 37D rocked back and forth in her seat. Lori fought the urge to run to her, but her flight attendant training told her to stay seated.

In Sparring with Shadows (gay romance mystery), Simon has that infuriating in-again, out-again attitude toward his new flat mate. Here, he is very much in the game for a short time.
~
He watched Michael’s face as his own fingers began a slow dance on the rigid flesh. He saw the large man shut his eyes and heard him whisper, choking out words that sent another flame chasing up his arse, “Take me, love.”

And he did. With palms and fingers and tongue and lips, Simon sank into a rapturous dance that held all the secret longing and passion he’d ever in his life felt for another human being. He knew Michael was a man of huge capacity who would accept even the roughest kind of sex play. Incapable of that, he merely licked and stroked, suckled and feasted until the monster erupted, and Michael’s voice was a roar of release.

He tasted the pungency of the seed, and he swallowed it.

From my soon to be released contemporary romance with a mystery twist – Red Tulip.

"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"
I turned to see who spoke while I wondered if he was addressing me. A man sat on a park bench, dressed in a dark suit, with a bowler hat, holding a cane and his head bowed. I shifted to continue along the path when his face lifted and I found myself gaping at two glowing green eyes.
"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"
I blinked, trying to look away from those mesmerising orbs. "Uh, never…I mean, no one has ever offered me a tulip."

Daisy's Dilemma, London 1822
“You know perfectly well Mama does not trust me to commit enough gravity to the task of telling dowager aunts and impoverished cousins I am to be married to a coal baron,” she said. She watched Reuben struggle to school his expression and fail. His bark of laughter was a cheering sound in the huge room lined with her late papa’s collection of books and maps.
“Will there be much disappointment?”
“Much. My inheritance has been actively sought by three cousins who will be desolate. On the other hand at least two aunts will feel I should have passed up the opportunity of diluting the blood-line with coal dust.”

From A Question of Honor, May 2015

Sydney knew about rejection. What she hadn’t picked up from her mother she’d quickly learned from her husband. For a brief time, the night before, she’d forgotten that she sometimes read too much into other people’s reactions. What she’d seen as sexual attraction had been friendly affection. Not that there was anything wrong with friendship. But it was particularly galling when the most intimate part of your body was in close contact with a fully aroused male, and all he wanted to do was pet you.

Skater's Waltz by Peggy Jaeger

Her finger roamed down to the corners of his mouth, outlining them, then on to the small dent in the middle of his chin. An impish grin fanned across her face. “I remember being little and wondering if I smoothed this line away would I be able to see inside you, like it was a door or some kind of opening to your insides. Dumb, huh?”
“Sweet,” he said, softly. “Little girl sweet. Never dumb.”
Her eyes traveled up to his and locked there.
“When I got older I wondered what it would be like to kiss it.”

A Rancher of Her Own by Barbara White Daille - short contemporary romance:

Pete’s lips, warm and firm, tasted of strawberries. He pressed his mouth against hers and his hand against her back, as if he wanted more of her.

She wanted more of him, too. She touched his face with her fingertips, stroking the ridge of cheekbones, the scratch of late-day beard. Then she ran her hands through his hair, tugging him closer.

He meant for this kiss to put the damper on the attraction between them. And she was darned sure going to enjoy the heat before the fire went out.

From my WIP, DREAM WEDDING (book 10 of the Dream Series)

You were Lizzie’s age when you got engaged,” he says. I was eight months older than she is now, actually, but I don’t say it. That would just be arguing for argument’s sake. “I played it all out in my head, I had flash cards for all the reasons why it makes sense. ‘She’s the same age you were when you got engaged’ was point number three.” I watch the color – and the confidence – returning to his face.

From Falling Hard:

She wore a full-length maroon coat that covered her body, but he could tell she was slim with legs as long as a Colorado pine. Gage felt like he knew her face—maybe from the movies—but he couldn’t place exactly where he’d seen her before. He knew they hadn’t met because she was unforgettable.
Maybe because he’d let his gaze linger on her a little too long, she glanced his way. Midnight blue eyes. Straight nose, full lips.
Their gazes collided; she lifted her chin and looked away

HER MIDNIGHT STARDUST COWBOYS, a ShapeShifter Seductions Presents Novel

Seven sentences from Chapter Forty-eight~

"Now there's a plan. Why don't we get out of these good duds? Then, I'll put on another pot of joe, and we'll come up with a killer plan." Zance smirked in his wolfish way.

"Killer plan, yeah." Dontoya widened his lips in a predator's smile. "Nothing like takin' down the bad guys."

"Nothin'," Zance agreed. He took hold of Dontoya's empty glass, and headed for the kitchen.

Happy Sunday! These seven lines are from my contemporary romance ONE MORE SECOND CHANCE. Julia has just taken her five year old daughter to the ER with a broken arm, and the new doctor in town suspects child abuse:

"I’ve seen child abuse, up close and personal, and I can tell you it’s damn ugly. The things parents and caregivers are capable of doing to defenseless children…”

He stopped abruptly, his chest heaving. Closing his eyes, he averted his face and took a deep breath. When he turned back to her, his steely control was back in place. “So yeah, if I have even the smallest suspicion that a child has been abused, I’m going to ask questions. And I’m not going to apologize for it.”

Thanks!

Sunday Seven from Playing With Fire....
"Tornado," the words tumbled from her lips, and she stared off in the distance, her eyes searching the sky as the wind began to rise. Another brilliant flash of lightning was followed by a roll of thunder that sounded like someone beating a hollow tin log. Her hand lifted to keep the hair sweeping across her face from her eyes. Then off to the southwest of town, she saw it – a tiny finger twisting, turning, being pulled toward earth by an unseen hand. She watched in horrid fascination as the finger grew, turning white to black as it sucked up the soil. Without thinking, she turned and pulled the door open. Her purse hung against the metal latch.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Thanks for reading.

From A Baron for Becky

One hour to the minute, he returned up the stairs, taking them two at a time. The suite was silent and dark. He lit a candle from one in the hall sconce, and let himself into the bedroom he’d reserved for them. “Becky, I am here,” he said.

No reply. She must be tired, after spending the day keeping little Sarah amused. He put the candle down on the bedside table and stripped naked, muttering to himself as his fingers fumbled over buttons and laces.

He’d wake her with kisses, then... his mind full of images of what came next, he had one knee on the bed and one hand already reaching for the blanket when a tousled dark head emerged, confused cornflower blue eyes blinking at him. “What are you doing in my Mama’s bed,” asked little Sarah.
